Oh I so feel you on this post. All the joy and love.

Yes the joy is not so much in overcoming the personal life's storms...but standing the midst of the storms and still being able to be connected to the world around you.

Gurl we all got troubles...shit I say. But in those moments when the music and the people and the night are all right...then it will be alright.

I Knew There Was One Black Person

I knew there was at least one black person in "It's A Wonderful Life" and she was a woman!

Corynne at The Black Girl Site also likes "The Preacher's Wife." I guess I'm not partial to movies with angels because I haven't seen that one either. Another one to add to my "To Watch" list.

I Love It's A Wonderful Life

I watch it every single year and I almost always see something I forgot about it. IThis year I noticede how the Black people in the town (all of whom seem to be women) are part of the giving to safe the savings and loan and how the Black woman is looking for a man (the more things change the more they stay the same). I love the movie through and through!

There'a another holiday movie that I enjoyed a few year's ago with Holly Hunter and Robert Downey - Home for the Holidays.

I like both the original and the Denzel Washington & Whitney Houston remake of The Preacher's Wife. It's set during the holidays.

Wow, the pressure's on now! I have to admit that there are a couple of cringe-worthy moments in "Christmas Vacation" that I don't really like -- I mean, it is National Lampoon, after all -- but the heart of this movie is just an average guy who wants his family to have a good Christmas, and we can all relate to that. Besides, after watching this movie, you'll finally get all your friends' "Cousin Eddie" references!

I could not agree more on your TV pics. I still have trouble watching "House" because I expect "George" to pop out of Hugh Laurie. I haven't seen Shrek or Rudolph, but now I want to. WW is one of my favourite shows and that is one of my favourite episodes... well, that one and Posse Comitatus... Oh who am I kidding... there are so many good ones up to the end of season 4. And even after that it's not a terrible show, just disappointing comparatively...

But Christmas stuff... yeah, sort of got off topic there for a second. I haven't seen all the films, but I completely agree with the original "Miracle"... far better than the newer one. Looks like I have some renting to do.
