In addition to the suggestions above

See who among your friends or co-workers who might want to join you.

One friend has contacted her local college to get the name of students who aren't able to go home. She always invites a couple fo her dinner.

There are often people we work with or who are in our neighborhood who might appreciate an invite.

And Christmas for two can be whatever you make it...as self-indulgent as you like. I'd probably do a combo of private and some public event like the movies, or volunteering, etc.

Enjoy!

Good and plenty!

We're considering a movie marathon

A Die Hard movie marathon to be specific. The first two *are* holiday movies...

Sassymonkey and Sassymonkey Reads.

Wow, I would never have thought of that! I'll have to see what's showing.

And sassymonkey, your day sounds like it will be wonderful. I think ours will end up similar.

Thankyou both for your responses : )

You can do whatever you want

Really, you can. After spending the past 8 or 9 years doing Christmas predominantly alone I'm thrilled to be having a Christmas for two. lol We're planning to open presents, have a nice brunch, then a big dinner and spend the day in our jammies in front of the fire watching movies and reading books. And maybe playing some Wii. We might have people come over in the evening if they want but probably not.

Sassymonkey and Sassymonkey Reads.

Holy Halloween. How did those eyeballs get into my punch?

I love that you are thinking about Halloween now, in August! It's my absolute favorite holiday. What's not to like? You get to wear cool costumes, eat candy and act silly. Thanksgiving should be so fun. Your post got me thinking that I should start focusing now on a Halloween episode that addresses your questions of menu, activities and who to invite (can you please both the kids and parents or does the party need to be geared more to one than the other?).

I love the suggestion of a Signature Drink. We posted a signature drink episode a while back, but for Halloween you really need something funky. One year, I whipped up a punch with vodka, cranberry juice, sprite, lime and raspberry sherberts (make sure it's really frozen - lumpy is good on Halloween), fresh orange juice and threw in dried ice so it was all foggy (plus, you couldn't really see through the fog which it made it feel a bit risky to drink). Throw in some peeled red grapes and when people ask what the slimy round things are, tell them "the grouchy neighbors' eyeballs." Take your kitchen shears to some red or green leaf lettuce to add in some super-stringy strands for a really cool (okay, gross) effect. And, if you're worried about scaring off your guests, just remember, it's Halloween. Then add more vodka.

Your 12 days with a nativity set is charming, as a gift, giving the pieces one day at a time with the note/poem.

I knew some of this, but definitely not all of it.

I have a Cuisinart Grind and Brew and good coffee beans is one thing I splurge on all the time. I just have to have good coffee to start the morning.
