Political Gifts

A political game perhaps? Probably not nearly the visual impact of the Hillary Nutcracker, but might be easier on your fingers? About.com has many, and there's one called "Dimension Defender."

Hi Moonspun, welcome to BlogHer and thanks for indexing your site :-) I hope you visit us a lot. When I look for other bloggers discussing a particular topic I search a variety of blog indexes. I believe I found your site by selecting "blog" on Google's searches~~ .then looking for the phrase "not being heard". Because your situation was so universal (and well-written) i linked you :-)

Guilty of beautiful ambition as charged

I have been a listener and have also been listened to, so I don't agree that the only things that are listened to are shocking or new/fascinating. While I agree that we should certainly speak our minds, I don't see listening as passive at all. It may be quiet, but it is very active on all non-speaking levels.

Mata,

Your profile photo.. with your face in your hand? That's how I read you. Concentrating and absorbing every word.

Tomorrow I will embrace your holiday (i'm thinking about making it a holi-week!) Someone will get to see me listen to them the way I read you.

It's an ambitious goal

It's a beautiful idea, but highly ambitious. People don't really listen unless the content is shocking or in some other way new and fascinating. It's just the way it is. I heard somewhere that people in a conversation start preparing their response while the other person is still talking to them. We like to hear ourselves, not the other side. I think the solution is not so much to passively ask others to listen, but to actively speak our minds in an effective way - short, clear and engaging.

DESIGNER HOSTESS BAGS WITH A TWIST – THEY’RE YOURS!

Incredibly original I ideas, I love them all! I especially think that wine bags are making hits everywhere, maybe because of the popularity of wine tasting parties. Going these days without an original wine bag to a tasting is certainly un-etiquette.

I recently came across some really wild and crazy designs over at winebags.com. As the name implies they specialize in wine bags. The have fabric and neoprene and some very unique designs styles, especially the fabric styles which come with tassel, sequin, satin and leather trims. The other interesting idea at Winebags is that you can design your own bags. By becoming a hostess of your own Winebags Wine Tasting Party you and your friends end up designing your own bags for hostess gifts at other parties.

I certainly think these bags should be considered as they too would make ideal hostess gifts for wine tastings. Here’s their link: http://www.winebags.com and you can email them at wines@winebags.com.

Great post

Judith
http://judithsdivorceblog.blogspot.com
Really enjoyed this. We broke with tradition this year by visitng India and leaving behind all the consumerist paraphernalia of Christmas. In doing so we became steeped in a country and culture with its own deeply rooted traditions and somewhere along the way I'm still trying to get it all sorted in my mind. For the time being I've contented myself with blogging about my travels albeit themed to coincide with my divorce blog.
