Votes that don't count

Last election, when my mom threw off her vote and gave it to Nader, I gave her a hard time. Her response was "my vote doesn't count anyway" - which is somewhat true since she votes in Red State SC.

And this year, I am going to vote in Illinois where the odds of my McCain/Palin vote making any difference at all is about as slim as they come.

But, you're right - we really don't know what the outcome of ANY election will be until all the votes are cast. It's probable that my vote, and my mom's won't count... but they might. 538 votes in Florida... how many people in SC and Il aren't voting because they don't think their votes matter in the end.

Vote, vote, vote, VOTE.
