They had a ball yesterday. My oldest updated his myspace with pics and such. He spent much of the day texting and emailing family and friends to reminders to go vote. The little ones enjoyed all the attention from the people we rode to the polls. My most amazing was an elderly woman who I picked up after her radition treatment for throat cancer. She could not speak and the skin on her throat was peeling from the radiation treatments. My little ones held the door for her and carried her bags. They helped her in line and moved our folding chair we had for the people who could not stand. She came out of the booth with tears and cried all the way home. She wrote "thank you from the bottom of my heart" on a note that I think I will add to my election day memories.

I think my mom may be smiling now. Her lectures were not in vain. To whom much is given.....

Wow it's complicated! Six states prohibit all recording devices, and then some, like my state NY, don't expressly forbid it but will not allow you to display a photo of your completed ballot in a public forum (like the internets).

There goes my blog post for the day.

Thank you for sharing these brave, strong women with us. I think those who are apathetic and choose not to vote should be ashamed for dishonoring the legacy of those who fought and shed blood.

I just spent several hours researching my ballot so that I can make an informed vote tomorrow in gratitude.

When I brought up online that I too felt that disdain for women, coming directly from McCain...that I was told by many on the right I was simply misinterpreting it, and it was actually disdain for the extremists on the abortion issue.

Glad to see another woman (along with many others) who felt the same way I did when watching McCain speak.

Given your experience as the founder of Emily's List, I'd love to know what role you think race will play in the 2008 presidential election, particularly when it comes to how undecided voters (especially women) will mark their ballots. Do you think the fact that Obama is black could dramatically affect the 14-point lead reported by CBS and The New York Times? How are leading pollsters like Celinda Lake and others with whom Emily's List works accounting for that factor, since it's never before been an issue in an American presidential outcome?
