Carol Hannah!

I was rooting for her most of the way through, because she seemed the most consistent and the most likable and real. Irina was clearly talented, but the arrogance got in the way of wanting her to win. Just a little too much mean girl.

That said, I understand why Irina won. It may have been monochromatic and matrix-like, but the POV and the detail of each piece and the thought put into accessories, put her on top.

I was hoping someone here could explain the Britsh woman's Flinstonian hairdo, but alas, no one else seems to get it either.

...really wanted to see Carol Hanna win because she wasn't so arrogant. Irina had these moments of narcissism and was critical of people like Gordana who ended up helping her kick some butt at the end. I have a similar issue with the brats on Top Chef--would you eat at their restaurant? Yes. But you don't want them to win on principle.

Jory Des Jardins writes on business and career topics at BlogHer, and on her personal blog Pause

I agree that this season has been such a snoozer. Not only did very few designers think outside the box, I'm not sure many even found the box. I think the producers maxxed out on the Hollywood exposure and thought that dragging in stars would make up for less creative challenges. Plus, Nina and Michael being absent so much did not help. I'll start watching next season, but I may not stay.

And what was that flippy hair sausage thing on the judge's head??

~~ Contributing Editor, Mata H. also blogs right along at Time's Fool

Lifetime let us down

I agree with you that this was the weakest finale in a long time. Where was the drama, the catfights, the tension? I suppose Irina should have won, but really, an entire collection in black. I wanted Carol Hannah to win, maybe because she seemed so home grown, no real schooling to hone her skills, at least that's what she led us to believe. Overall, it was a real sleeper.

The most drama seemed to be when Tim got his hair in a ruffle over the models not being ready. And the greatest fashion don't was the that updo thing on the British woman's head. I can't believe she put herself on TV looking like that. But even then, it wasn't enough.

I really think Lifetime needs to step it up next season. Throw in some bizarre contestants, or at least one that really doesn't play well with others. I love this show, and I really want to keep loving it. Lifetime, don't let us down.

Debra C.

http://noerasers.com

Totally dull season

I'm not big on reality shows. This one, American Idol (which is kind of tiresome at this point) and So You think You Can Dance (which I may never tire of) are the three I watch (3 too many according to my husband). In any case, this one may just fall off my TV viewing next time around. It was painfully dull this season. I don't know how Lifetime took a fun, creative, exciting show and turned it into a dull, sleepy hour of TV. Bring back the clothes made from a romp at the produce market! I may give season 7 a chance but they really need to spice things up.

Makes sense that Irina won but that doesn't make it good TV.

I agree with verything said above. I was shocked at the weakness of the designs considering the inspiration available at the Getty and the additional time and money given to make this final effort. Still can't figure out how they managed to send home the people who had the best two designs, and at least added some variety---rather than winding up with three mainstream 20-something girls for the final.

For me the best part of this whole episode was seeing how fantastic Cindy Crawford looks.

http://blog.darrylepollack.com/

Puts the un in uninspired

Nordette, has there been a single outfit that season which really, really blew you away? (the only one which was close for me was the dress Ra'mon pulled out of his hat at the last minute in week 3 when working in teams and Mitchell did squat) Not like other seasons! At best, this stuff is competent... not a word you want to use for a show which has previously had so many creative people on it. But it may have to do with who the show's producers are picking for the initial mix of contestants. Too much trying to find personalities, not enough looking for talent. Also, I think they need to bump up the prize money... $100K is not enough to realistically start a line. A higher prize might attract a higher level of designers.

I've watched every episode of this season and keep asking myself, why am I watching because something's off about this season. You've summed it up with the word uninspiring.

Nordette Adams is a BlogHer CE & you can find her other stuff through Her 411.

Agree with how uninspired

Agree with how uninspired the contestants are and also how the changing judges really throws the show off. 1) Get consistent judges, and I'm sick of having boring magazine editors or actresses/models as judges. Get people who are actively, creatively in the fashion industry. 2) Move the show back to New York... enough of this LA nonsense. LA is NOT a fashion capital. You don't want to go to NYC Heidi... then get another host.

Re the blog: Irina's dress was disgusting. That this dress was that awful and Nina was the only one to even mention how bad the silhouette was shows how poor the judging is. Irina's stuff looks like Post-Soviet Union fashion from 1993. It might work in Tbilisi, but it doesn't cut in on PR, and I'm tired of judges (esp. Heidi) not calling her on it. Gordana totally got the shaft. Not saying her work was always perfect or hyper-creative, but it was scrupulously made and executed and is something many women would like to wear. Her dress (despite what could have been better done with the back... agree with Nina) looked better and more connected to the task at hand than all the other looks (I also liked her Manhattan dress). To give her the boot for that level of work was just absurd. Althea's was a total mess, the top and bottom didn't look like they were from the same outfit. I liked Carol Hannah's outfit, but I'm not sure how it really related to the 18th Cent. bed at the Getty other than just... satin. Someone like Rami from season 4 would have done a much better job of it. Having some talented people like Ra'mon kicked off prematurely has seriously hindered this cycle. Hope season 7 is several steps up from this.

I agree. So uninspired. It's become formulaic and I don't like all the changing of judges. In past seasons, there was more of a core group. Heidi's been much more vocal this season. It feels like the designers are hampered by knowledge of previous seasons and what a big deal they think this might be for them. I'll still watch but I no longer feel compelled to see it live.

Gordana should have won - by a mile. And Christopher needs to go home. I am not a Nicolas fan either but --he's done better over all. Mostly though you are right -- this week was BO.RING. Bring on the clothes made of vegetables.

Clueless,

That looks like a fun craft event! Some interesting vendors. I rarely mention the regional craft events as they are happening, though I've started the season by mentioning some of the big ones.

Also on the east coast this weekend is the wool festival in Rhinebeck, NY. Many of us who are not there are celebrating on Twitter instead by attending #ImaginaryRhinebeck.

Debra A Stitch In Time Weight for Deb

Thanks for the Update on the West Coast. On the East, I attended a craft event in NY's Chelsea district. Nice to see crafts in a place that is more known for blue chip contemporary art galleries.

Here's the link in case you want to check it out:

http://www.thenewnewny.com/CraftsInChelsea.html

http://www.thecluelesscrafter.com/

I usually agree with you on this stuff but this time, I did like the dress. I liked that she created a pattern instead of just going with the boring solids that everyone else did. Truthfully, I liked the dress she did on the show way better than the one she designed for the holidays. That was boring and who wants a butterfly on their dress after the age of 6?
