Canonical Url's

I'm have never been real interested in SEO for the most part because it takes too much time I don't have time, but I did find this plugin which I recommend for the lazy. If you have a self hosted Wordpress blog it is great as it takes care of duplicate content.

Canonical Url's

Link Farm Information

Thank you so very much for this post. The warning about link farms is extremely appreciated. I'm hoping that I can recognize one if I see it. The last thing I need is to get suckered into one of those sites. It reminds me of an old saying my mom used, "All attention, ain't good attention".

Thanks again!

Link Words

I don't normally use "click here" -- I don't think. I really don't use links in posts much, but maybe I should start. I often read blogs where the author continues their story based on a previous post.. where the previous post is the link... so maybe I could start trying to do that more often as well...

------------

I work for money - I blog for fun. I wish it was the other way around...

What about art work in addition to photos

I'm getting a tutorial tomorrow in loading photos to my blog. Sometimes I've seen cartoons in the paper I'd like to use to illustrate a point. Do you know of a site that has cartons or comics? What about sketch art?

Thanks.

Great advice!

Love these tips, especially the link word advice. I know I will be more conscious of how I'm linking, and that's a good thing! Thanks!

Like merchantships said-I

Like merchantships said-I really need to write before I allow myself to read/twitter, etc.

Thanks for the advice on link words. I'm working on this now and will use the tip!

I try to respond to comments by email-especially if it is a first-time commenter. I feel it's more personal, and I can usually get repeat visitors from that. I personally never check back to see if someone responded to my comment (either author or other reader). I follow way too many blogs to do that. If a blogger responds to me in an email I usually will read more often-or even add her/him to my reader-I feel like we've made some kind of connection.

Lurkers

It's true that you'll always have lurkers. I think it helps, though, to make commenting as easy as possible for them by asking the questions and putting the ball in their court. Inviting them to comment at least leaves the door open. ;) I'm a lurker myself, so I can't really complain. :D

Sound Advice!

I would agree that pictures are worth a thousand words and I wish I had more unique photos to post than just the plain ones of my puppies or kitties. I guess I can go through my stock to see if there are pics to use....

Encouraging comments is a good tip, but I've noticed lurkers that stop by, read, and wander away without a word.. that's really discouraging.

You made a good point about thinking twice on what words you choose for your links. Boy, there's so much to think about when doing some SEO.

Great tips!

These are great tips! Something I've been trying to do lately is to include links to my older posts as often as possible. I try to read each post as if I were someone reading my blog for the first time, and if there is anything I've written that wouldn't make sense if you hadn't been reading for awhile, I link back to an older post that can give a little more context. It helps my readers understand where I'm coming from, and it helps me to get more pageviews per visit and to draw people into my story a little more deeply and hopefully encourage them to come back to read the next installment!

Wonderful interview

As a woman whos day job is in the tech field myself and someone who is very interested in SEO, website creation internet applications, this interview was a great and enjoyable read. It was really encouraging to hear from a pioneer in the industry. It was also great to hear how involved she still is with her company, as some CEOs can loose touch as their business becomes successful.

Thank you for taking the time to do and transcribe this interview!

Hi Virginia

great to see Jill interviewed -- I've watched her expertise and business grow since first meeting her on the late lamented LED Digest list in 1997, and she has always been my reference for SEO.

She always talks good sense -- I am 100% with her on her last comment!

Veronica
http://www.larecettedujour.org/
