I *need* one of those. Right now! And the Macabi skirt that cblouder linked to is tempting me also.

Skirts for travel

I love skirts for travel, too, especially if they have usable pockets, wash easily and dry quickly, provide sun protection and enough room to hike or walk, and are comfortable and flattering. They are also great in areas that require culturally sensitive apparel. And you can dress a skirt up with jewelry, scarf or jacket.

I discovered skirt wearing as a Peace Corps volunteer in North Africa. Later when I was looking for something to wear on my first salt water flyfishing expedition, I realized a skirt would be perfect--cooler than pants, more protective than shorts and culturally appropriate for the area where I would be fishing. I couldn't find anything made of easy care sun protective fabric durable enough for climbing in and out of boats, with roomy pockets and some convertibility features for changes in the weather or my mood. So, I designed my own and now market it as the Macabi Skirt, www.macabiskirt.com.

Customers tell me how much they love the Macabi Skirt pockets, the wash and wear fabric and the convertibility features for travel, trekking, hiking and day to day wear. Skirts rule!

how about Keens?

While I can personally vouch for the comfort of Berne Mevs, I also would recommend some of Keen's newer, more streamlined styles, such as the Barcelona or Amsterdam, which offer a little more cushioning than Berne Mevs do.

:)

No need to apologize.

I use crocs a lot in my photography... and I get as many comments telling me I won't be allowed in a fellow blogger's state wearing crocs as I do saying they LOVE the croc toe shoes (I did, uh... water ballet in my bathtub).

If you are a germphobic and need clean shoes - you can NOT beat wash and wear shoes. BUT - croc haters never fail to mention they don't like crocs. Which is funny - I probably wouldn't tell someone I didn't like their shoes... just to be polite (even though I don't need anyone to like my footwear but me).

I hope you found what you need.

I did choose cute over comfortable at BlogHer and I would do it all over again... times twelve.

Good work, ladies.

One of my favorite things about BlogHer.org is the community and the way you will all jump in when you have good ideas to share. These are all terrific shoe recommendations (although I'm also not a fan of the Crocs--sorry Holli).

And for the record, my feet are KILLING me after last weekend. Because I chose cute shoes over good walking shoes, which was foolish. Sigh.

earth shoes!

I bought a pair of earth shoes before we did a tour in munich, vienna and salzberg for our honeymoon and they don't look like they've been through 2 countries and worn a lot since. And fabulously comfortable if you're like me and get lower back pain after a lot of time on your feet.

I'm not 100% sure of your style...

but I have lots of shoes that can fit the bill when it comes to style and comfort.

I have a pair of Dansko shoes (Rose) that are SUPER comfortable...check out all the reviews on Zappos - and they work with jeans, skirts - anything.

Here is the Dansko page on Zappos.

For my daughter I always choose Bear Feet - those things are wonderful, and they last through more sizes than normal shoes because they are hand-stitched and they stretch with the feet.

I'm a shoe freak, but I've been given a ton of grief for my Mary Jane Crocs. I think they're cute.

Don't listen to me - I wore shoes so uncomfortable to BlogHer, I'm getting ready to go to the doctor. I can't feel three toes on each foot!

Hope you find what you need.

Hugs!

Merrill Shoes

Merrill - originally known for their hiking boots - also makes some cute shoes that are great for walking in. I pack my maryjanes when I travel and I can walk in them all day long - and they're fine for wearing to dinner, too.
