I figure it's right about now that you might be thinking, "OMG, this is so much freaking work, I cannot believe it, I need ten of me, why am I doing this again?"

Just wanted to remind you of just one of the many reasons it's worth doing what you're doing ;->

Great Post!

I used to work in the corporate world..hated every minute of it. I just never fit in. Now that I am self employed and working from home I've never been happier. Sure there is that never ending uncertainty regarding cash flow, but controlling my own destiny gives me a confidence and a peace of mind I never had when I was in the corporate world.

The Key -- Works for YOU AND Feels good

This is true! People need to do what works for them...but it should also feel good. People flourish when the environment and their mindset are in alignment.

And.. if it is BAD... it is a sign to take action to move toward a change. So many people sit in bad & believe the devil they know is better than change even if it is killing them.

It depends on your personality

I can relate too. I work for a startup now, telecommute, and am so much happier than I was when I worked at the legal department of a big corporation, or when I worked at a big law firm (that was REALLY bad).

However, my husband has always flourished in the corporate environment. So each person should do what works for them.

Or is your corporate job safer than moving to a "start up"?

Boy can I relate to this post - my situation was a wee bit different but still very much the same.

I still don't take a lunch but there were an awful lot of really positive changes in my work life when I left the "big company" for the "little one".

I appreciate your wisdom

I'm an entrepreneur, starting a business via a blog, and even though I'm just starting, I've felt many of the feelings you mention in your post. And I know the feelings will continue. I recently read an other blogger commenting on the idea of people postponing starting a busines, for a variety of reasons. The bottom line of his assessment was, "If you wait for the perfect time, that time will never come. So, if you think you have the right stuff, Just go for it.

Between yours and his advice, I feel confident that the time is right for my company and myself, as a business woman.

Thanks for the great post.

Hi Jackie,

Thanks for your comment. I would encourage anyone who finds this of interest to go to http://techcrunch40.com/2007/index.php and look at the blog, company profiles and coming videos of sessions to learn more.

Your site is interesting. I like the idea of featuring a guiding poem on your home page.

Sounds Like a Good Conference

Maria,

This is very well said, and the confence seems it was very benificial to everyone that attended.

We appreciate you sharing this with us.

The advise you shared that you need to be able to both know your business thoroughly as well be able to step away from that knowledge enough so that you can make a tight, clear presentation of what it's about and why it would be of interest to anybody else is sometimes hard to remember, but is of importance.

There are many similar things that are shared at the womens community at www.braveheartwomen.com .

Thanks again,

Jackie
