A cry for help
by Bring Books Back

Last year results were out on a survey that was taken in Cleveland, OH.  Only 34% of Cleveland Public School students graduated from high school in four years.  My biggest question was what happened to the other 66%?  As you may have guessed, most finished in 5-6 years.

Others dropped out for financial reasons, teen pregnancy, family related issues, and so many other outside factors.  No one can solely take the blame for these results.  Teachers are doing as much as they can with the little resources they are given.  The school district is up against the wall trying to determine who gets what first, if at all.  Parents in this community have to work all times of the day, to keep food on the table for these students, and students are asked to do a lot more than attend class everyday.

 What can we do?

The community has to come together.  Remember the saying "it takes a village to raise a child?"  Let us live by that.  Let us all join in the efforts to provide students with the resources they need to do above and beyond what they are currently achieving.

Can you see the big picture?

I can.  I am 100% confident that my mission to get Books Back into the hands of students will succeed.  It will spark an interest for knowledge from students, get the community involved with helping their children and provide teachers with extra resources to expand learning.

Bring Books Back has made an effort to adopt 3 elementary schools in Cleveland, OH.  The total of students is estimated to be 1500 K-6th graders.  WE NEED BOOK DONATIONS!  If you have books that you can donate please send me a comment.  I will get you the P.O Box number for the organization.

Thank you in advance!
