A day in the life of a stay-at-home mom. As the sun is beginning to rise you say to yourself; "5 more minutes mom!". Just then coming to the realization that you are the mom. You jump out of bed trying to beat the morning crowd ( of kids). You get dressed for a hard day at work, and play. Rushing around the bedroom cleaning up, trying to get rid of any reminders of sleeping. You hurry down the stairs straight for kitchen to make a fresh pot of that enticing stimulant know as coffee. Back up the stairs we go to bring on the day. One by one we go, awakening the children.
The older ones get dressed for school, although, not always presentable. You remind them, " Please remember to make your bed and pick up after yourself before you leave." Who knows how much of that one actually gets through. It's ok though, you'll be going over it anyways. With some "goodbyes" and "have a good day" and a quick inspection, down the stairs and out to the bus they go, school awaits. That's three down, two to go! Awakened by all of the hurrying out the door the younger ones are awake without a minute to spare. After a quick clean up of the room, it's back to the kitchen again. Time to get cookin'! You hear the pounding of little fist on their highchair trays saying " feed me now!" haha. The babies are eating. The older ones eat at school even if you don't understand why they would want to. You have a not so healthy breakfast of the drug of your choice....coffee. You take a few minutes ,while they are happily playing in the livingroom, to clean up the kitchen. Then, it's off to bath upstairs for them. They splish and slash so excitedly without a care in the world. You wish you could be like that. Out and dressed and back down we go. You stay and play with the for a few min., maybe even read a book or two to them. They stay playing with their blocks and a few toys they like to bang together. To the laundry you go, washing, drying, folding, and putting away. You clean up the hallways and they downstairs bathroom. Ahh, downstairs almost complete......for now. You play for a little longer with the little ones until they start to tire. Pillows and blankets out, one bottle and one pacifier, don't forget the older ones baby. You it on the couch one of them lying beside you watching their favorite show, watched only before a nap. The other is in your arms holding a bottle in one hand and a blanket in the other. You watch their adorable faces drift off to sleep. Afterward , carrying them up to their beds, we are off again. To the livingroom, cleaning up the toys, dusting, vacuumning, and all the rest. You sneak in a quick coffee break and maybe even yogurt. You sweep off the front forch and back patio, while have a baby monitor strapped to your hip like some kind of security device that will sound if you leave. Back inside, you scrub the floors on your hand and knees as if you were in some other time before technology and improvements afraid that if you don't some kind of terrible germ could inhabit the most precious things on earth to you. Now that you have disinfected everything in sight downstairs, time to go up. You creep silently thinking that the slightest sound could disturb them from a restful sleep. Going through all of the bedrooms, checking every nook and cranny, you find things you didn't think were possible to find on a daily basis. Bedrooms are done now to the bathrooms...not knowing what you might find there either. Finally spotless! Wait, what is that noise? You got it. Kids up, one diaper off and they keep on going. You can't help but laugh! All cleaned up and ready to go. It's lunch time! When they are eating you manage to even sneak in a couple of bites for yourself! You clean up and decide to take a walk to the park for a bit, depending on the weather of course. At the park they are having so much fun. They just want you to take them up and down the slide, wearing you out more than them, but it is all worth it. When we get back to the house we have a healthy snack of peanut butter and celery ( spit mostly on the floor)for the older one and a banana for the younger. Clean up on isle 1! We have a little reading and coloring time before the kids get home from school. That's when the mental overload really begins. Kids in the door, shoes and backpacks everywhere, out fly the paper and the questions. You say put your things away and take your papers to the table so that we can talk one at a time. After a little insistance, they go. "How was your day?", "What did you learn?", " What homework do you have?", "Anything i need to see or know about?"; you say.Homework done, everyone is getting ready for activities, Two for soccer, one for running. You prepare bags to go. Your husband gets home and gets ready also. It's a race for the finish line. One after another and they are all done. Now you try to squeeze in a little gym time while you are there before you have to rush back home to prepare dinner. Didn't get in as much time on yourself as you would have liked but every little bit helps. We all get back home and dinner is prepared and served. Clean up again while the older ones are getting their showers and preparing their things for the next day. Your husband is playing with the babies while watching football, if that is possible. Kids all ready for bed and you tuck them in and read a story. Kisses goodnight and lights out, at least for them. You go over everything to prepare for the next day, cleaning, grocery lists, meal plans, bills paid, and everything in between. Finally, you get a shower and try to relax for a bit before settling in. When you get into bed you realize that it is now after midnight and hope and pray that you can get a little rest before one of the littles wakes up. While drifting off to sleep with so many things racing through your head, you think to yourself," Life is good and i wouldn't trade it for anything!"

Who says that a stay at home mom isn't a full time job! I know exactly how you feel, my son just left for school, 1 sick on the couch, and toddler still sleeping. Time to get started!
