Honestly, I'm still trying to figure out this site. Here is some commentary on decaf coffee until I do:
Let's just talk about decaf coffee for a minute.
In my brain, this idea just does not compute. Isn't the entire point of coffee (other than to taste good) to wake up/be awake/stay awake/get that lovely caffeine high? That mmmm...ahhhh feeling after that first sip or two when the brain fog starts to clear and the world starts to make a little more sense (no matter what time of day)?
Well...whether you agree or not (and I think most of you do), I think decaf coffee is a ridiculous concept. I've tried it. I actually tried to drink only decaf coffee for like...a week (at the suggestion of a medical professional), and I hated it. Really. I need that jolt reached at the bottom of the cup - preferably several times a day.
So with that said, I woke up this morning in time to make myself some coffee. I thought I'd save myself some money by trying to make it at home since it's always kept in stock around here, and coffee at coffee shops, while yummy, is expensive. When I went to get out the coffee, I discovered that it was DECAF. ALL OF IT. DECAF. Free. Of. Caffeine.
WHAT?!?!
No good and really rather irritating.
My main goal at the moment is just to survive the next few weeks. I have so much due between now and the first week of December. It's unreal.
I need fuel to reach the end.
Leaded fuel.
Caffeinated coffee.
Where did this semester go? I swear...before last week, I truly felt like it was the slowest, longest semester I'd ever experienced. As of last Sunday, I'm wondering who sped up the clocks and deleted days from the calendar. I really feel like there should be 6-8 weeks before exams start. NOT FOUR (or is it fewer now? OH NO!). Argh!
I guess, on the bright side, it could mean that I am closer to France.
I have my make-it-or-break it interview for the LSU in the French Alps program at the end of January (ooo...I'd better start practicing!), and if that goes well, I will leave 4 months later for Paris then travel to Barcellonette where I will spend a month (followed by my month abroad independently if everything works out).
If I don't do well on my interview (or if too many people do better), well, there's always LSU in Paris. Not ideal or an immersion program, but I will still get to spend over a month in Paris (probably also followed by about a month abroad independently).
BUT
I need to stay in the here-and-now, focused, and ready to kick the ass (like I did to that French oral presentation today!) of whatever comes at me to finish out this semester and survive the next.
To do that...
3 shots of espresso please and keep 'em comin'!
