I'll admit it, I'm a Kardashian Family fan. I haven't watched religiously from the beginning of their "reality life," but I've kept up throughout the years. I like them because they spend so much time together as a family {though they tend to be a bit more touchy-feely than any family I've ever known, including my own. I mean, my family says "I love you" at the drop of a hat but if I'm sitting too close to my brother, we're more likely to say "ew, gross", push each other and move away than embrace it.} I digress. I like that they're Valley Girls, like me, and as a Lakers fan, I love that Khloe married Lamar. Okay, okay, I can't think of any more reasons but the bottom line is, they're a likable family. I got on board immediately with Kourtney & Khloe Take Miami and actually enjoyed every episode. So obviously, Kourtney and Kim Take New York was programmed on my DVR to record.
And then I watched it.
*blink* *blink*
And then I went out to the living room and sat with my husband for a moment and said, "Ya know, I really don't know what I'm going to write about this show," and he quipped, "Well, your review of it will probably have more substance than the show itself."
*long pause*
He had a point. But I didn't hate the show. I found it a little boring but I didn't hate it.
It was more . . . I missed Khloe.
Khloe is silly and fun and funny and interesting and to quote Kourtney "Kim & I just aren't as lovey-dovey".
In fact, Kim is more... well, obsessed with herself. And it's really boring.
Though I've had mixed feelings about Kourtney's baby daddy, Scott Disick {aka: American Psycho}, they obviously love each other and are trying to make it work {& he's really good television}. At the beginning of the show he has a room down the hall of the hotel they're staying in and by the end, he's moving in with K & K. The pair have cute moments together throughout the show: eating room service breakfast together, cuddling on the bed, picnicking at the park. But every time they're together, Kim barges in to talk about herself. Even so far as to pout and say, "You could have ordered ME breakfast".
Now, I know it's all in the editing and I'm sure Kourtney is used to this kind of behavior from her sister and responded with a casual, "You're just being a drama queen," but I'm thinking that she was missing Khloe while they were in NY too.
A few notes I jotted down while watching
- The hotel suite they're in is amazing, and of course Kim wants Kourtney's room because she says it's better.
- Though there's talk of baby Mason and a crib in Kourtney's room, you never see him once during the show.
- K & K are trying to dress more NYC than LA... and Kourtney is pulling it off; Kim, not so much.
- Speaking of Kim, I think her butt is bigger than ever. In fact, I think it ate Kourtney's butt.
- When asked how his room was, Scott replied "Clean."
- Kanye West vs Scott at the DASH location = awkward.
- Kim's interaction & date with Michael = awkward.
- Kourtney looks gorgeous. Kim looks like she's trying too hard.
- I feel a little bad because I don't dislike Kim ....it was just, enough already.
Obviously I'm watching again next week... the season's previews showed Scott in a fight at a bar, Kim crying on her cell phone, & Mama K accusing Kim of lying to her. More Kardashian drama is in the air. And I'm always up for that
