Did The Speeding Daddy Get What He Deserved?

What would you say to a man speeding to the hospital because his wife was in labor? Now what would you say if he got a state trooper escort to the hospital where his son was born six minutes after arrival? Would you be mad if I told you that the same trooper that escorted him to the hospital gave him a speeding ticket after the child's birth? Pretty crappy thing to do, or is it?
September 18, John Coughlin of New Hampshire found himself in this very position. You can read the whole story here.
When I first heard this story I thought it was a pretty crappy thing to do, giving a new father a ticket. Then when I found out this was this couples second child, and dad readily admitted he had no idea how fast he was going ( he was going 102 mph) I thought ... what a dumbass! Not only is this your second child, so you kind of know what to expect, but you had no idea of how fast you were going! I just want to shake this man and ask him, what if you would have lost control of the car at that rate of speed?! Did you not know that state troopers can and HAVE delivered babies, and could get an ambulance there faster than you? Then I read that the only reason he is fighting the ticket is because he was told he could lose his license? Uh.. yeah. If you don't have a level head in an emergency situation and speed to the point of not know how fast you're going... maybe you shouldn't have a license.Anyone who has ever been witness to a high speed crash can tell you, its not pretty and rarely does everyone just walk away.
Kiss your new son daddy then man up and take your lumps.
But then, this is just my opinion. What is yours?
