**This sweepstakes ended on 8/12. Thank you for taking the time to participate. Please continue reading the posts below on Disney's new movie Planes.
From above the world of "Cars" comes "Disney's Planes," an action-packed 3D animated comedy adventure featuring Dusty (voice of Dane Cook), a plane with dreams of competing as a high-flying air racer. But Dusty's not exactly built for racing -- and he happens to be afraid of heights. So he turns to a seasoned naval aviator who helps Dusty qualify to take on the defending champ of the race circuit. Dusty's courage is put to the ultimate test as he aims to reach heights he never dreamed possible, giving a spellbound world the inspiration to soar.
Our bloggers had the opportunity to watch Planes' trailers. As parents, we all try to motivate our children in facing their fears and teaching them that courage and believing in themselves will make them learn to fly. Each of our bloggers were able to find a connection with the characters who encouraged Dusty to fulfill his dream. Read the posts below and see which character you may find yourself associated with! Get the opportunity to also win a $100 Fandango gift card!
...and remember, “Disney’s Planes” takes off in theaters on Aug. 9, 2013!
This Sweepstakes runs from July 15, 2013 to August 12, 2013 and is only open to individuals who, at the time of entry deadline, are legal residents of the United States and are 18 years or older. Winners will be randomly selected from all eligible entries. Click here for official rules.
One incredible change that occurred in my son Moose during the past year is his ability to sit through an entire movie. At the movie theatre. Without special accommodations in lighting and volume. In his seat, the entire time without tantrums or sensory overload. Moose sits entranced, soaking in what is a rite of passage of childhood: matinees with our family. Whenever school break hits, Moose asks for "movies". Later this summer, the movie Planes hits theatres....more
If my family had to choose one movie series to take on a deserted island with which to entertain our kids and not drive us adults insane in the process, it would be Disney Cars and Cars 2. Noah, at only two and a half, can name every character in either movie, and quote chunks of each movie by memory. His character collection is immense, and he can often be seen clutching a suffocating Mater or Frank in his fist. Ali, despite her grand collection of Princess movies and shows, also adores Cars and Cars 2....more
Bravery is powerful. Bravery should be celebrated. Embraced. Cultivated. Pursued. And taught. Our children benefit from being brave and trying new things and following those passions that they are gifted with. When I was asked to consider writing a review about the Disney Movie Planes about bravery and courage and how to teach it to my children I jumped on board. Why? Because I want to push my children to be brave and to believe in themselves. Often it's the little things, the little moments of courage that define our lives....more
Our family has been anxiously awaiting the theater arrival of Disney's new film Planes. Since the very first preview, we have been counting down. We love both Cars and Cars 2, and have already marked August 9th on our calendars. We have watched every trailer available. We feel we already know and love so many of the characters, especially Dusty, the films main character, a crop-dusting plane who has big dreams to become more than he is. He decides to follow his big dreams, enter a rally and race against the world's greatest flying machines....more
One of my biggest roles as a parent is to help my children figure out what they enjoy and excel in and encourage them to work hard to achieve their goals. That's a pretty big job and it makes me nervous because sometimes I can push too hard and my good intentions backfire. Each child is so unique and figuring out which parenting style will best motivate, encourage, and support each child is so hard! It's definitely a process requiring lots of patience, forgiveness, and trial and error....more
As a parent I am always trying to teach my children. It starts with first words and steps, moves to letters and numbers, and eventually they grow to an age where it is less about physical accomplishments and more about personal growth. I want to teach my children to be kind and caring, to be hard working, teach them to be brave, and teach them to set goals and to reach for them. I want to teach them to dream and to go after those dreams....more
Over the summer, I have decided that we need to do one "special" thing a day. Something that is not chores, or homework but just a way to build some memories. We have done some science experiments (like baking soda volcanoes) and some art projects but other days our "special" time has been popping popcorn and eating it on a blanket in the loft while watching a movie. Recently, the kids and I had the opportunity to see the trailer for Disney's Planes, coming to theaters August 9....more
While my husband sometimes chides me for being a pessimist, I like to think of myself as more of a realist to his more dreamer-optimistic nature. Those natural inclinations show up not only in our daily lives, but they also come through in our parenting styles. He's the one who is more likely to say, "That sounds great!" when our teenager says he wants to be a historian who travels all around the world learning about other cultures as a job....more

A couple months back my husband and I took our kids to California to go to Disneyland and California Adventure! We loved all of both parks but I'm pretty sure Chesney's favorite was Radiator Springs Racers! She LOVED it, along with everyone else there! :) While we were visiting Disneyland we heard about the new Disney movie Planes. We loved Cars so I'm sure we're going to love Planes!...more
