DIY Diva post the answers to the most commonly asked google search questions that led people to her site. She answers the question, Can a girl hang drywall? with this:
I am so sick, not just of men who believe we’re going to lose a digit every time we use a cordless drill, much less actually use tools to build something, but of all of the women who don’t believe they are capable of doing these things. It’s one thing if you don’t want to do it… that’s fine, hire someone. I don’t want to clean, that’s why I have a cleaning service. But don’t let fear (or worse, some antiquated social norm) keep you from believing that you can do absolutely any project that you put your mind to.
Can I get a round of applause? And if you go to her blog and see the gorgeous pergola she built, well you will fall in love with her. And then look at the recycling cabinet, and well, back off, I found her first.
1916 Portland Bungalow posts their inspiration photo for their dining room. I love it. We have been thinking of doing something similar in our dining room. Right now we have the entire walls, from floor to ceiling, painted a deep red color. I like the red, but it feels very cave-like. I think that wainscotting would brighten the place up a bit.
Adventures in Remuddling writes how a bottle of grape juice sent them scurrying for a new kitchen faucet. Intrigued? You know you are.
Over at Smithers and Oso's Old House they are working on a breakfast nook. I love breakfast nooks. I love ours. Even though we eat lunch and dinner there also I still call it our breakfast room.
My dear friend Jeanne from House in Progress took a well deserved break from remodeling her old house to go on vacation. She recently sanded and stained enough wood trim in her basement to line a path from sea to shining sea. I am only slightly exaggerating. So why am I telling you this? Because she had someone working at her house while she was gone. And therefore came home to glorious repaired walls, built in bookcases, and messes that had been made and then cleaned up by someone else. The photos of her front room are incredible.
When she isn't blogging about her life at Notes from the Trenches or taking a year off from spending money at A Year Off, Chris is working at rescuing her house from a century of neglect and bad taste. She can also be found writing about home improvement and design at DIY This N' That.

My dad never included me
When he did DIY projects around the house, he always asked my brother to help him. It never occurred to him to ask me. It never occurred to me to offer to help. So my brother learned how to do stuff, and I didn't.

Great links
Some great links there, thanks for sharing. I'm with Vered, though I didn't have a brother back then. I wanted to build stuff all the time but there were no room or help to get! Who knew what we could've learned as kids if only someone allowed girls to play with tools too? ;-)

I've become so good at remodeling projects
that my husband now has a 'honey do' list for me, lol. I must be one of the lucky ones that had a Dad who always included me. He's been gone since the 1990's and what I didn't learn from him I learned from trial and error.
Great article! Women most certainly can!
