Which character in TV movies or books reminds you of your father?

My dad? Wall-E, no kidding. He has a highly organized collection of stuff -- much of it meaningful only to him -- which he treasures showing to his loved ones. He also has the gentle, thickly-lensed eyes and the sweet heart.

OK, so maybe my family's a little unusual. Maybe you grew up in a more traditional family, and your dad had a lovingly mocking Heathcliff Huxtable sense of humor. Or the noble moral certainty of Atticus Finch. Or he was, like Mac MacGuff in Juno, bewildered by your choices but always supportive.

Or maybe you have a dad like Justin of S**t My Dad Says, whose real father has morphed into a sitcom character to be played by William Shatner.

Or Homer Simpson. Or Arthur Weasley. Or Clark Griswold. Or Tony Soprano. Or Frank Costanza. Or Commander Adama. Or ...

Do tell which character from a movie, TV show or book your dad makes you think of -- you could win an iPad! (Whether you give it to Dad -- that's up to you).

Just comment to be registered for the drawing, which will take place at noon Pacific on Friday, June 18, 2010. Read the official rules here.

Make sure you have your e-mail address in your BlogHer profile, so we can contact you if you win.

Yup - don't tell him I said so, but he is so Hank Hill. My brother was just like Little Bobby, growing up, too, but no - I was not Luann ;)

saharasarge 5 pts

My father is exactly like Red Foreman from that 70's show. With a touch more of behind the scenes always being there for ya kind of thing!

skidaddy 5 pts

My dad reminds me of Mike Brady. He always had a philosophical insight and comment to about everything, especially when we did something wrong, he just wanted us to learn from our experiences and he rarely got mad at us.

Aisling 5 pts

My dad reminded me of the James Stewart character in Mr. Smith Goes to Washington. Honest, idealist and determined. I admired my dad a great deal.

showbizkp 5 pts

My dad is definitely Goofy! Hilarious with a big loud laugh, and a kid trapped in a tall, lanky body!

SCMOMOF2BOYS 5 pts

My Dad is like Rich Little. He impersonates ANYONE!! My brother can do it too. He loves to catch people off guard! he is almost 70, so he does a lot of older impersonations, Muhammad Ali, Harry Carey, Fred Sanford, Foster Brooks, etc.

He is really funny!

Well my father has always resembled Greg Evegan esp when he was younger and in Gregs BJ and the Bear days but my fathers personality always put me in mind of Mork (Robin Williams).

I think if Archie Bunker married Red Forman and they had a baby, it would be my father.

Except for the biggotry, this is my dad. My mom is like Edith too, no joke. Have to say that growing up with them was a gas but I love them dearly.

When I think of him, "The Old Man and the Sea" comes to mind.

Dad dabbled with seeking fame in sports and music, then settled for an ordinary life.

An older version of Hank Hill =)

When I was younger my dad seemed more like Tony Soprano, but he has mellowed with age. Now he's like the dad in Father of the Bride.

Seriously, my dad can fix ANYTHING, using pipe cleaners and erasers and m&ms.

Mr. Holland from Mr. Holland's Opus (Richard Dryfus) reminds me of my dad so much, from the look (premature gray & a mustache) to the artistic drive. Our relationship while I lived at home wasn't the same as with Mr. Holland & his son, but I do see similarities. It was a bit cathartic to watch, really, and I just wanted to hug my dad afterward. I love when some form of entertainment actually informs me about my world.

willitara 5 pts

My dad had a lot of prejudices due to his upbringing. In that way he was like Archie Bunker, but he was also a lot like Andy Griffith - southern, loved his fishing, and his family.

mail4rosey 5 pts

My dad was George Lopez, sarcastic and direct, but also funny, kind, and always willing to go the extra mile.

07violet 5 pts

there aren't any characters I can think of that remind me of him with their personality but Frasier reminds me of him because of some similar facial features

TheDragon 5 pts

I'd say he was Homer Simpson, just not quite as outgoing.

fangirl 5 pts

Okay, I wouldn't say my Dad ever thought that "Greed is Good", but I rarely ever saw him not wearing a suit. He was quite the business guy, but underneath it he still had the country boy that was trying to better himself. Maybe, he was the anti-Oliver Douglas from Green Acres.

susan1215 5 pts

My Dad reminds me of Archie Bunker from All in the Family, it was his favorite show. He was an old school type where he believed women should stay home and wait on their husbands like Edith did.

Tomi 5 pts

My dad reminds me of Uncle Phil from "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air". He was very stern when it came to raising my siblings and I and always sought the best for us. Even though he wasn't very affectionate, we was loving. He cracked up when I told him about this post. "I always liked that man", he said. LOL!

tstueve 5 pts

My dad always reminds me of the Eight is Enough dad. Very sweet but easily exasperated by the chaos his kids caused!

DrunkenBoxer 5 pts

My dad always reminded me of Bruce Banner/The Incredible Hulk.

He was the most quiet, peaceful guy...but we kids always knew we'd crossed the line if we'd managed to make him mad, because he'd really Hulk out. He never hit us, certainly, but he'd turn red, and that vein on his forehead would be bulging.

Atreau 5 pts

My dad is very much like Cliff Huxtable, a very silly, calm man who is married to a very determined and strong willed woman.

carolpie 5 pts

It would be the father on A Christmas Story. The one who is always fighting with the furnace and wins the leg lamp! LOL

ava02 5 pts

my father reminds me of Clark Kent.

dddiva 5 pts

He didn't blow everything up but everyone loved him and he was just so... like that lol.

Diane Redcay I would say Clint Eastwood in the peacher he talks so much like a peacher man

garrettsambo 5 pts

Charles Ingalls reminds me of my dad. Like Charles my dad was a hard worker who gave his all to his family. garrettsambo@aol.com

My dad always reminded me of Fred Flinstone the dark mop of hair with the cowlick in the back. He didn't work at the gravel pit but did constuction and he always had some crazy scheme.

whammyammy 5 pts

My dad is similar to Jacob Well's (FATHER) in the TV series of Beauty & The Beast. Older, wise, patient, and kind.

This is an easy one! Red Foreman from That 70's Show!

The Greek father from my big fat greek wedding.

LindyMint 5 pts

My dad is the strong silent type - but in a sweet way. So I guess he is a mixture of John Wayne, and Mr. Brady.
