Do you think it's better to play it safe or to take risks?

By Mary Hill

Today is the official first day of BlogHer's NaBloPoMo for March. The theme this month is taking risks.  When you take a risk you step out beyond your comfort zone and do something new that you would not normally do.  Taking a risk is a scary prospect.  It is making yourself vunerable to failure or criticism.

At the same time, if once in awhile we don't step out and try something new, we don't grow as women. What are the risks you can take this month?  For me, I am moving out beyond my comfort zone. I am starting a new effort to reach women with ideas that they might or might not agree with.  They may hate what I have to say.  I might step on toes. I might make people uncomfortable or mad. Is it worth it?  What do you think?  How do we take risks that help each other.  I don't want to make anyone upset or angry. My goal will always be to help others advance.  I want to challenge and to stretch myself. I want to help women see all sides of an issue and grow too.

We are a sisterhood. We can bring joy to one another. We can make each other laugh. We can move each other. We can grow each other.  We can challenge each other.  Risk taking can be something that is helpful. What risks are you willing to take to help your family, your community?  Do you have a personal project that you want to start that can help others succeed as mothers or wives?  The sky is the limit this month. Take the risk.  Your actions can make a difference to others.
