Don’t Chase The Money Chase The Vision

“Success Procedure: Run your day by the clock and your life with a vision.” – Zig Ziglar
The same is true for money. Money is forever moving. And even the value of a dollar changes constantly with the stock market.
I hear people all the time saying, “I’m chasing that money” or “I’m chasing that paper.”
You’ll never catch enough money. The exchange of money is a continuous process. If you’re curious about the exchange of money go to the mall, flea market, or sporting event and watch the exchange of money.
Imagine if you paid for something and then you track that cash as it exchanges hand. You’d probably get tired before that cash stop exchanging hands.
“Money is just a tool that allows you to do the things you want to do.” Felicia Streeter
I say chase the vision. Before you can chase the vision you have to be clear on what’s your vision. Where do you want the money to take you? Take some time and think this through. A clear vision is important. It’s the fuel that will light your fire when you feel stuck and not sure of your direction.
When hear people say that money changed a person. Money didn’t really change them. Money is just a tool. The problem is that they are chasing the money and not the vision.
Use money as a tool and allow it to direct your steps to your vision.
Let me share a couple of definitions of “vision”:
- the ability to see, the act or power of anticipating that which will or may come to be – Dictionary.com
- the ability to see, something that you imagine, a picture that you see in your mind, something that you see or dream especially as part of a religious or supernatural experience – Merriam-Webster
What do you want your life to look like? Take a moment and vision your dream lifestyle or as I like to say your tailor made life. It’s always tailor made because you are the designer.
If you don’t have a clear vision for yourself, you’ll find yourself chasing someone else vision. You’ll help them accomplish their vision but never your own. And that sucks!
What do you want to do with the money? There are three things I believe you need to be clear on:
1. Your Why – why do you want the money?
2. The What – what will the money allow you to do?
3. Your Vision – what does your life and business look like when you have the money?
Take about 10-minutes and just meditate on your tailor made life. Use your five senses and tap into as many as possible with your vision.
