Don't make an Ass outta U and me

Just in case I’ve never been clear, I’d like to clear up a few things right now.  I’m a Christian.  I’m not Catholic.  I’m not Mormon.  I’m not Jehovah’s Witness.  I’m Christian.  Please don’t misinterpret me.  I did NOT say I’m perfect.  I did not say I am condemning you.  I did not say I am judging you.  I did not say I snub my nose at you if I see you drink wine.  I did not scoff at you when you opted not to give a dollar to the guy standing at the side of the freeway exit.  I said I am a Christian.  If you don’t know what all that entails, then just ask.  Don’t assume that you know what being a Christian means if you haven’t done the research.  My dad always said, “Baby girl, you know what assumin’  makes? It makes an ass outta you and me.”  If you don’t get that, then it’s ok.  I got it, and that’s all that matters to me and Daddy.

I’ve been seeing a lot of the equal signs on Facebook as of recently.  Hey, if that’s your thing and you support gay marriage, then that’s your choice.  We all have choices.  I made my choice.  My choice was, and is, and always will be, to follow Christ.  I won’t go on to defend my choice, but if you’d like to hear it, please ask.  I’ll be more than happy to share with you the reasons why Christ is my choice.  But don’t assume you know what Christians are thinking simply because they call themselves Christians if you have no understanding of what a TRUE Christian believes.  Yes, there are posers out there that claim to be Christians just as there are young women out there that are pretending to be something they are not, just dating some guy pretending she’s sweet all the time when she’s not.  Oh come on, ladies.  Been there, done that.  It’s ok, we all, at some point, pretend to be something we’re not in order to attract the opposite sex.  But this isn’t about the opposite sex…or is it??

Ok, back on track.  I’m against gay marriage.  I can say that with divine certainty that it is not in God’s will for humankind.  If you disagree, then like I said, it’s your choice.  We all make our choices.  Don’t lump me together with radicals that protest at funerals, and don’t stick me in the same group as people that bomb abortion clinics.  If you need a category to stick me in, then stick me in the one that reads the Bible.  Let me know when you’ve read it, studied it, and truly searched for answers.  If you still disagree with me, then that’s ok.  It’s your choice.  I’ve made my choice.
