Dr. Oz unveils four new fat-burning metabolism boosters plus green tea extract

If all those tummy-warming winter comfort foods have resulted in belly bulge, Dr. Mehmet Oz, author of "YOU: The Owner's Manual: An Insider's Guide to the Body That Will Make You Healthier and Younger," has four new solutions. They offer holistic ways to boost your metabolism and accelerate fat-burning, according to KPRC. Plus: Find out what the latest studies show about the power of green tea extract to turbo-charge weight loss.
Tip One: Branch chain amino acids, found in protein powders. Dr. Oz recommends using them at breakfast "because they can satiate you so you won't be over hungry for the rest of the day." Look for one without added artificial ingredients. Example: NOW Foods Whey Protein Isolate (click for details). Our tip: Experiment by adding unsweetened almond milk and different types of fresh fruit for a morning smoothie that will boost your energy and metabolism all day long.
Tip Two: Sage leaf tea in the morning to keep your metabolism functioning at optimal levels.
Tip Three: White bean extract, which Dr. Oz calls a "very effective" sugar blocker. ""Let's say you have a doughnut. If you want to block that sugar from getting into your body and [turning] into fat on your thighs, you want to take a sugar eraser," said Dr. Oz. "And white bean extract is one of the best ones out there from my perspective." Example: Pure Naturals Carb Blocker or Natrol White Kidney Bean Carb Intercept.
Tip Four: Greek yogurt with vitamin C to boost the absorption of calcium and fat-burning. Our tip: Mix vitamin C powder or crystals into plain Greek yogurt and put in freezer. It tastes like tropical frozen yogurt. Example: NOW Foods Vitamin C Crystals.
Plus: Can green tea extract really help with weight loss? Yes, according to a new study cited in WebMD. Clinical trial participants who drank tea with green tea extract added lost significantly more body fat. How much do you need? Based on all previous studies, at least four cups daily or green tea extract supplements. Example: Life Extension Decaffeinated Mega Green Tea Extract 98% Polyphenolds, Vegetarian Capsules (click for details).
Note: If you're trying to lose weight, Dr. Oz also has authored two weight loss books: "YOU: Losing Weight: The Owner's Manual to Simple and Healthy Weight Loss" and "YOU: On A Diet Revised Edition: The Owner's Manual for Waist Management."
