Dr. Oz: Weight loss-boosting ways to flush stubborn fat fast, from diet tea to vinegar

If trying to find a way to flush stubborn fat from your body has become an obsession, Dr.  Mehmet Oz has some new solutions. Get ready for three new ways to boost your weight loss and solve your diet dilemmas.  Dr. Oz is the author of "YOU: On A Diet Revised Edition: The Owner's Manual for Waist Management" (click for details) and "YOU: Losing Weight: The Owner's Manual to Simple and Healthy Weight Loss."

First, let's talk the fat-burning power of green tea plus garlic. Yup, you read that right.  Dr. Oz says: "When the pancreas is overwhelmed and blood sugars are high, this organ isn’t able to burn energy efficiently and remove fat. An overworked pancreas can lead to fat storage, particularly stubborn belly fat. To invigorate your pancreas and eliminate fat, drink a cup of garlic green tea each day." How to make this fat-flushing tea:

  • Steep one green tea bag in hot water for 5 minutes, such as Bigelow Green Tea.
  • Add 2 to 3 whole, peeled garlic cloves and let them steep for 3 to 5 minutes.
  • Spoon the garlic cloves out.

In addition, Dr. Oz recommends vitamin C, which also boosts your body's fat-burning abilities. He recommends a minimum of 75 mg of vitamin C a day "to help your body turn fat into energy and burn it off."  Our tip: Some vitamin C tablets are so large that they're hard to swallow. Look for chewable versions, such as Natural Factors Vitamin C Blueberry, Raspberry, Boysenberry Chewables (click for details).

Say hello to vinegar. Dr. Oz says that it can block fat from accumulating if you drink white vinegar after eating sugar and carbs. That drink can reduce the glycemic index of a meal by more than 25%.  Drink two tablespoons after each meal, especially if it's carb-heavy.  Examples: Italian White Wine Vinegar Special Selection or Bellei White Wine Vinegar.
