I have a problem. A problem with dresses.

I know, I know. I don't come off like someone who likes dresses. From your seat in front of your computer, I appear to be someone whose pants come equipped with suspenders and ride up to her armpits.

But I have a love affair with dresses. I covet them. I worship them. Fancy dresses, casual dresses, sundresses, nightgowns, cover ups. If it slips over my head and swishes I'm in heaven.

This winter Boss Lady declared me Queen of the Sweater Dress. It was a title I wore with pride and I fully intend to wrestle any of you who attempt to take it from me.

Here's the thing: I look super awesome in dresses. While pregnant? They grew with me. And the kicker? I don't have to match them to anything. They are one piece. They already match themselves.

So, I look cute and get to be completely lazy. And my wardrobe works pregnant, postpartum or MILF.

So now that it's summer I desperately want more dresses. I crave them like drunk people crave White Castle. Selling my organs to acquire them seems completely rational.

Or perhaps....I'll sell YOUR organs. I think I could rock a nurse's uniform too. Plus, no unsightly surgical scars or recovery time. I'll use the black market cash to surround myself in floofy materials and sweet necklines. no unsightly surgical scars or recovery time.

So, anyone want to come over this weekend? I'm serving cocktails...

Also, I'm over at Our Mommyhood today jumping into the breastfeeding debate. Let me know your thoughts!

oh how I want to love dresses...they are so comfortable.

but? I have this strange, tire shape that some asshole has shoved into my middle and I can't figure out how to get it off.

It looks weird with most dresses.

I have tried wiggling out of it, only to cause sort of a nauseous effect. I have tried jumping out of it...only for it to jiggle around and cause bruising.

I am taking suggestions.

Because I would LOVE to be this consumed by dresses.

I love dresses. I can't wear them in the winter... to cold! How do you do it?

Maybe I just need to buy me some extra thick sweater dresses. And tights.

All hail the queen! I too have embraced the sweater dress this year. (Thank you Marshalls and Ross for feeding this addiction.)
I might wrestle you for that title...this baby belly is ROCKIN in the sweater dress...now if there was something I could do about my ass.

What a fun post and Congrats for being published.

"They already match themselves"

You are so funny girl! You have inspired me to think about trading in some of my ripped yoga pants and t shirts for a dress or two. Might even be wearing one when my husband walks in the door after work! Probably not.

Congrats on being over here on Blogher!

I usually avoid dresses. I keep a couple. For weddings and funerals. I'm pretty much a blue jean baby.

But you just made them sound so awesome. Now I'm all intrigued.
And congratulations on being featured here!

I WISH I was more of a dress type of gal, but jeans and cords and yoga pants are my favs. No suspenders. :)

Okay, I'll wear a skirt occasionally.

My daughters and I just blogged about the importance of dressing in a way that makes you feel good. Clothes make the woman! You are totally right and who needs a spleen, anyway!

Did I ever tell you about my blue merino sweater dress from Banana Republic? Clearance: $22.00 Perfection.

Oh my, I love you KLZ! I love dresses too but not to your crazy level.
They are so forgiving and yet make us look so darn hot!

I love dresses too. It's an instant outfit. Plus, I hate wearing shorts. In the summer it's dresses every day. One thing I look forward to when my baby eventually stops nursing is having my complete wardrobe available again. For now, it's wrap dresses all the way. Nice post KLZ!

What are your thoughts on the mumu? I have a mumu inspired summer dress that my husband is probably keeping hostage in the attic.

You are disturbingly hilarious as per usual!!

Think of it this way, dresses are significantly cheaper then two piece clothing options...I mean do you know how much a pair of designer jeans can set you back? No? Yeah me neither...

Also? You don't have to worry about a button not closing around the waist - or muffin top!

I am a swirly dress kind of girl myself. Dresses are forgiving when you've sinned a little too much. They make you feel pretty as soon as you slide that swish on, no matter what sort of mood you were in before the dress.

I have 2 variations of style, a dress or jeans and no in between.

Great post, fellow dress girl.

LOL KLZ you crack me up. Love this line. "I crave them like drunk people crave white castle." Are you sure your going to go with dresses over suspenders? The Charlie Chaplin look is pretty hot. Just saying.

I've recently come to love dresses as well! They fit great! They hide all the areas that pants & jeans don't! And I love the retro looking ones the most!

Love dresses, too. Could wear a sweater dress and leggings/tights every day - it's like being in your pj's, but not.

So great to see you on BlogHer!

Yes, I think I would gladly sell an organ for floofy materials.

Not MY organs, you understand. Mine are reserved for my hair color.

But other people's? Sure!

Although I like dresses very much -- what's easier? -- it's all the accouterment that goes with that is problematic:

Panty hose or no? (I live in NJ....chilly here in the winter months! Pasty legs all year round!)

Underwear? Obviously yes, but does this require fashion interventions?

Shoes? I prefer comfortable, but then I risk looking like some "trying to look not Nun-ish" nun.

See? Trouble. Perhaps I shall clean out my closet for you....

What a title. Queen of sweater dress.

I, too, love me some dresses. Especially in the fall / winter when I can wear my eff me boots with them ;)

coolwhipmom 5 pts

I fully approve of your dress obsession. But I'm staying away from your cocktails parties. Cuz I do like my organs.

NotJustAnotherJennifer 5 pts

They are all you say - simple, no matching required, etc. But I have a hard time finding ones that look good on me without Spanx under them. And that just throws the comfort factor out the window. :)

Old Lady says: work the dress and enjoy it while you can. Pretty soon, nothing looks good on the old body.

I kid, I kid.

You will be waaaaaaaaay cute beyond the normal expiration date.

WootWoot to seeing you here. Thank you, BlogHer, for giving so many "little bloggers" a voice.

We are thrilled with the chance you give us.

Oh, I just have this urge to send you dresses from my closet...or from the neighbor's closet. You are too funny and it's awesome to see you over here on an otherwise boring Monday morning!!

I love dresses for all the reasons you state. Sadly, I don't buy that many except for in the summer...I live in sundresses. I can ignore my pats getting tighter that way.

When I was much much younger, there was a lady who wandered around a lake near our house. She always wore wedding dresses, they looked old - she seemed sad, but beautiful.
She liked dresses too ...
You probably wear yours with more humor :)
