The Dukan Experience
I'm not one for dieting--I like food way too much. Although I have dabbled in the occasional fad diet in my moments of weakness. But clearly I have come to a point where I feel like a whale in a pond of goldfish. I'm 27. Single--and I fear I have succumbed to the stereotype of being a crazy cat lady; I have four. Sometimes it takes me 30 minutes to get out of my car because I feel like people are watching me. I don't eat in public and I am rarely seen at an ice cream stand or a public snack shack. I am not comfortable in my skin and it is tiring.
My mother told me about how all the ladies at her agency have been reading a book and following the guidelines and on average they have each lost 40 lbs. That is amazing! So I read the book--The Dukan Diet. And I wasn't put off I was actually pretty intrigued. I think it helps also to be ready to lose weight. You can't do a diet if you don't want to lose weight by the end of the first week you'll cheat and lose interest.
Today was my first day of the Attack phase of the Dukan Diet. Honestly if I were to tally how many times I gagged it would add up to 5. How many times I went pee--I lost count. How many times I said to myself, "You aren't going to be able to do this." Maybe once or twice--but this was quickly followed by a "Shut up yes you can!" How many times I just wanted to put some kind of sauce on everything--all day long.
I know the first few days are the hardest so I am excited to get to the middle phase of the Attack phase so I don't have to keep having a ping pong of emotions going through my head.
The book says to weigh yourself hourly the first few days to see how the protein is reacting in your body. So I weighed myself this morning, ate breakfast-gained a pound. Weighed myself before I went to my mid am snack-lost 2 pounds. This happened all day. I think I lost two pounds today!!!
What the heck is the Dukan Diet?!?!!?!?
"The Dukan Diet is a protein based nutritional approach designed by Pierre Dukan, a French nutritionist and dietician. The Dukan Diet, or Dukan method proposes a healthy eating plan which is based on how primitive man used to eat when we were hunter-gatherers. It includes 100 foods, of which 72 are animal sourced and 28 come from plants. And you can eat as much as you like, as long as you stick to those 100 foods. The Dukan Diet has four specific ground pillars or phases, which are called: Attack, Cruise, Consolidation and Stabilization.
I am going to blog everyday of my attack phase to hold me accountable for the weight loss. And then as I go on with the cruise phase I will probably blog once or twice a week. I need to make sure that I have something that holds me accountable for completing each day of the diet. I would like to lose 50lbs. But my goal in the Attack phase is to lose at least 10lbs. We will see!!
This is exciting.
