Dwell Studio & Robert Allen Fabric

Robert Allen is one of my favorite go-to fabric companies.  In September Robert Allen and Dwell Studios introduced their new collection Modern Color Theory, a collection of unique prints and standout wovens.

Last Friday on Fab Finds, I featured fabrics from the new Robert Allen/Dwell Studios collection, Modern Color Theory.  This new collection infuses midcentury modern design with global craft. Its playful patterns and bold color palette take cues from abstract art and early modernism. Modern Color Theory brings a contemporary spin to livable fabrics, creating new classics for today’s home.

For its patterns, Modern Color Theory draws on an arts and crafts feel taken from early abstract art, with an emphasis on intentional imperfection. Geometric lines appear to have an almost hand-drawn quality, and painterly florals blur and overlap one another like a cut-paper collage. Yet, the collection remains true to the signature DwellStudio style, featuring oversized geometrics (Coco); conversational animal motifs (Caravan and Kings Walk); and whimsical stripes (High Wire). The colors are full of attitude in richly saturated shades such as Malachite, a lush full green; Citrine, a shockingly chic bright yellow often paired with a sophisticated gray; and Ultramarine, a deep hue of ocean blue.

Coco, a dramatic, graphic geometric on a linen slub, draws inspiration from an abstract painting and is available in four stunning shades: Copper, Brindle, Ultramarine, Malachite.

Kings Walk is the ultimate modern conversation piece, a playful lion damask pattern that shows pure primary colors mixed with softer earth tones. Kings Walk is available in three cheerful colorways: Vapor, Citrine, Ultramarine.

Kings Walk

Malakos is inspired by Malachite, a semi-precious gemstone recognizable for its distinct coloring, alternating bands of light and dark. This design is a chic statement piece that packs a punch and is available in three rich tones: Ink, Malachite, Ultramarine.

Caravan is a playful piece featuring a unique antelope print. Caravan comes in two signature DwellStudio colorways: Citrine, Copper.

Landsmeer’s painterly watercolor floral pattern is a work of art in itself. Its sophisticated abstract motif adds a decadent flourish to any interior and is available in three modern colorations: Citrine, Ultramarine, Currant.
