I recently -- with a little help -- made the decision to dye my hair for the first time ever. Red, no less, and for some reason, I also chose to do it myself. I was actually pretty pleased with the results, and so I figured that others out there like me, people who might otherwise be daunted by the thought of taking the plunge, might benefit from seeing the process laid out in a simple, easy-to-follow guide.Sure, said guide involves jazz hands and a karate segment, but still, it's foolproof!

If you do follow along at home, do NOT skip the jazz hands step. It's crucial.

I color my hair -or occasionally treat myself to a salon color.  It's surprisingly easy- but next time I shall to remember those karate moves for while it's working.

You did a great job. Such a pretty shade on you. Thanks for the amusing guide.

I've been coloring my hair for so many years that my 16 year old daughter thought red was my natural color.

with those 16 steps. Sometimes I just use my fingers instead of my normal one step comb out, so I was flabbergasted by your notion that 16 steps could be easy. You surprised me with a delightful post.

I love how it almost resembles a comic book!  I dye my hair every 3-4 months (cursed with gray) and I still really love this post.  That auburn looks great on you.  With your gorgeous skin color, it almost look like your natural color.  I'm glad you went through with it :)

This made me laugh so hard. ALSO, very timely. I was just thinking today, "Meh, my gray is really showing through now. I also need a trim. I should probably get a dye and trim job before we go to a family party tonight." I thought this because I have some extra money in my account right now and thought I'd splurge.

But now, no need. I'll just get a trim and pick up a box of dye. Thank you for saving me money.

All that said, your new color is LOVELY. It almost tempts me to go the auburn route again. But I really do love my natural color. Just without the gray. Stupid gray.

Gorgeous color. I've been coloring mine red for some time. Mine usually comes out a bit darker, but my base color is fairly dark to begin with, and getting it significantly lighter than dark auburn required bleaching. My hair is damaged enough without it.
