THE EASTER BASKET.........

THE EASTER BASKET…….

I remember my Easter Basket growing up…..I think my Mom continued to give me an Easter Basket long after I quit believing in the Easter Bunny……My big Easter basket was a multi-colored hand wonven one…….I think it sort of fell apart towards the end…..but it lasted my entire childhood….

My Mother always made sure I had an Easter Basket on Easter…..She never forgot or felt I was too old……I have since carried on this tradition with my family……Everyone in my family gets an Easter Basket….Even my husband…..At first he felt it was sort of silly for me (Easter Bunny) to make him an Easter Basket….but somehow I think he secretively loves it….

My children all 3 love their Easter Basket……I fill it up with all kinds of wonderful candy (but don’t let them eat it  all at once, I space it out over a period of time) and even now that they are getting older they still love the thrill of getting an Easter Basket….I simply think we are never too old to enjoy the fun parts of the holiday….

Yes, I am very aware of what Easter truly represents……My Salvation paid for through Christ at the Cross…..That is the prime focus and representation for us at Easter……And yet, we love our Easter Baskets……It simply adds fun to the special blessed day…..And as far as I am concerned there is nothing wrong with fun….

As my children get older I will likely continue with the Easter baskets….the very same ones I bought them when they were babies…..Each one has a different colored Easter basket…..When my children someday grow up….get married….I will then likely continue their Easter Baskets by filling it up and if they have children give it to them to give their children……So these Easter baskets are special to me…..They have traveled through my children’s childhoods and likely will travel into their children’s childhoods someday if they decide to have a family….Till then they will receive an Easter basket from me all along………I love Easter Baskets….
