On Easter I Celebrate the Resurrection of My Savior
With Palm Sunday right around the corner, celebrating Easter is on my mind. This Easter Sunday, March 31, 2013, I will gather with mi familia and celebrate our Risen Lord; we will color hardboiled eggs, give our grandchildren candies and chocolates (that we hope and pray will not give them cavities), and finally sit together to a fine meal where we will hold hands and together give praise and heartfelt thanks for God’s gift to us, Jesus, His Son—The Sacrificial Lamb of God.
I am a Christian, even if often a backsliding one; I am only human, after all. Though I make no excuses by saying “I am only human”, but that is why I am glad to proclaim I have need for a Savior—that hard as I try to do well and be good, I still have my many faults. However having a Savior whose sacrifice has paid for my sins doesn’t give me a “Get-Out-of-Jail-Free” card. I still have to own-up and be responsible for my ill-choices. Except now I can approach my Heavenly Father, The Throne of Grace, with confidence, knowing Jesus, His Son, sits as my Mediator.
Happy was the day that I first felt the Lord calling, and immediately accepted Him into my heart. On that happy day, I understood the gift He offered and simply took it. But, no, I didn’t hear music from a heavenly choir; I didn’t hear bells and trumpets going off; I simply felt His presence, peace and love, and so I freely surrendered my life to Him.
Becoming a Christian didn’t mean my life would be free of troubles; it didn’t mean I would walk the rest of my life with a smile plastered on my face. Becoming a child of the King just meant I now had His promise of someday seeing Him and being with Him in eternity. It means that my life will not just expire into oblivion when all is said and done. My life, in all its tragedies and tribulations while I’ve worn this Earthly suit, will have had meaning, and it will not all have been for naught.
To those of you that celebrate Easter, I wish you a very delicious and happy Sunday. And to my friends that do not, I still wish you all a VERY Happy End-of-March!
We dream a life to be; we live to dream that life! (vka)
