Election Day is Here! Tell Us Your Thoughts

Polling places around the country opened this morning – have you cast your ballot yet? I’ve been a mail-in voter for the past ten years, but I really miss that “I Voted” sticker they hand out at the polls. So I bought myself a flag pin, because the most important thing is that my vote -- and yours -- gets counted.
The race is still so tight in many places that it’s anyone’s guess whether President Obama or Gov. Mitt Romney will come out on top when all the ballots are finally counted -- which, if it comes down to provisional ballots in Ohio, could take weeks. But the Washington Post has a good roundup of pundit predictions. And if you have questions about how to find your neighborhood polls or whether the questions or documents you are asked to present are legal, please check Kim Pearson's guide to voting rights.
I can feel the anxiety in the air (or at least on my screen) from both sides, hoping that their candidate will win.
The Radula is taking her young adult daughters to vote, because their ability to find jobs is at stake.
BlogHers around the country have been reporting lots of people at local polling places. Even KarenLynnn, our undecided voter in Wisconsin planned on doing her civic duty this morning -- although she still was waiting for the last minute to decide which box to check for president.
Do you have any Election Day traditions? Lots of BlogHers have memories of voting with their parents.
Laine Griffin writes about her family’s traditions of voting together, then sharing an All-American meal of burgers and fries. But especially, the stickers. It doesn't matter if you're four or 40, it's all about the stickers:
The ding letting us know our votes had been cast. A wrinkled, smiling volunteer waiting with an “I Voted” sticker. What excitement!
I love the excitement of new information coming in, the people’s voices being heard. That’s not a statement about tonight’s results that are coming in, it’s just a statement about my love of the process.
Others are just ready for the campaigning to end. MotherhoodMiscellany writes:
I hate this election. Truly. It's so ugly.
Here at BlogHer, we’ll be staying up late tonight.
We'll have analysis from both Democrats and Republicans, as results roll in across the country. We're also partnering with Center for American Women in Politics to keep track of the state and national races in which women are prominently featured.
And check out this fun Facebook map that shows in real-time where people are using their app to check in at polling places.
What are you doing or thinking today? And if you’re blogging about your election experience, share your links in the comments.
And of course, check back throughout the afternoon and evening!
