Casting my vote has never felt so good. Even despite my one passing
moment of Hillary-missing, I happily flipped the switch for Barack
Obama. A friend went with me to the polling station, and we were both
so excited it felt like Christmas—with the exception that we must wait
until tonight for Santa to bring us our present, a brand new Democratic
President.
I'd venture to say that my friend and I weren't the only ones at our polling station filled with fuzzy feelings. From what I saw this morning in my Manhattan neighborhood, and from what I'm seeing all across the country on my TV—in Red and Blue neighborhoods everywhere—Christmas has come early for everyone who's fed up with the Republican Party. We seem to all be thinking the same thing: We've been good this year, very good getting out the vote. So this election, this
early Christmas, Santa IS going to bring us what we want!
So now we all wait. We keep our fingers crossed and hope that our wish comes
true. Because we don't want to end up with a another lump of coal this
election year.
