Life has certainly given us permission to enjoy it unendingly.  In fact, I believe, it is almost an order.  Sometimes we fail to find circumstances or people around us conducive to this.  But then again a moment wasted not enjoying life is just that – a moment wasted. 

At a certain point in my life I decided that what was going on around me would be going on whether I was happy or not, so I might as well enjoy myself and life.  It was a great breakthrough.  Of course, I forgot a few times here and there, but somehow life reminds me to “get with it” – get with life. 

I sometimes hold this image of life, of which we are all immersed, smiling at me from outside and inside my being.  That’s enough to do the trick and get me back to feeling good.

My father-in-law had a most wonderful way of being.  He never saw a day he didn’t enjoy or a person he couldn’t tell a joke to.  Every change in his life was an opportunity to meet someone new.  I knew he hardly minded going in the hospital for cancer surgery because there were endless nurses he could flirt with and doctors he could amuse.  He was dearly loved.

To enjoy a day is a great thing.  Then life knows its gift is well-received.
