Everybody's Boy

About life, loss, love, laughter...and a little bit about Autism too. ;-)

A place for parents, family, friends or people affected by Autism Spectrum Disorder.

I started the blog when my son, Peter was being diagnosed with Autism in May 2008. Since then I've shared about the many ups and downs and twists and turns that we've experienced. A Public Relations Director by trade, it's been a unique challenge to use my voice to share our life in a way that is unfamiliarly raw and transparent at the same time. As I have grown more comfortable in sharing our story, I've found it incredibly cathartic and have found a comforting acceptance in a diverse and supportive community.

My hope for the "everybody's boy" movement, if you will, is to acknowledge and celebrate that it truly does take a village to raise our children. It takes a village to love, nurture, teach, advocate, fight for, accept and grow our children.

We've been blessed to have found that village. Or rather, that it found us.

I want to provide that "village" someday to everyone who seeks it. A safe place to share, seek answers and support...for all of the Mommies, Daddies, Grandparents, Aunties, Uncles, Friends, Therapists, Teachers, and of course Peter's of the world.

Will you join me?
