Exercise during pregnancy helps baby's brain development
A new study for the University of Montreal and its affiliate children's hospital found that just 20 minutes of moderate exercise for pregnant women (3x/week) is enough to enhance a baby's brain development in utero.
Just a few decades ago doctors told pregnant women to "take it easy." Now most agree that being sedentary during pregnancy can do more harm than good. But it's still important that you talk to your physician/OB about whether it's OK to continue - or, especially, START- exercise while you're pregnant.
To be more specific, the results of the tests showed that the babies of active mothers had "a more mature cerebral activation" once they were born, indicating that they're brains developed faster than the non-active mothers' babies.
