Cece administers the blog The Two Whos and has developed sufficient computer and web site skills to keep the blog running, increase their readership and enhance the SEO capabilities of the blog. The Whos are celebrating their second full year of blogging!

And so with that thought , Cece and Yun determined that they would take the next logical step and put themselves on Facebook.  Yun is on Facebook, but never uses it and Cece has purposely avoided it because she has an ill  family member who spams everything she writes if not blocked from her sites.  But, The Whos determined after talking to many people, that getting on Facebook was good business sense and they decided to take the plunge!

Cece did not know ANYTHING about Facebook and she had never been on anyone’s wall since she was not a member.  But she reasoned, how h  could it be to make a wall given that millions of  had done so.  She reasoned that she could just “follow the yellow brick road” and in no time flat she could have The Whos’  wall up and ready to go.  She went to the Facebook site and saw that she could make a page.    The word PAGE will become important later on.  That was the only options she saw…the ability to make a page.  She agreed that was  what she thought she wanted to do, so she proceeded.  She was given a block of squares to choose from to determine what kind of page she wanted.  She chose the box for a web site…because The Whos is a web site…logical yes?

She pressed the square and was then directed to a 1,2,3 set of items that she must perform to get started.  The Number one box was to download a picture.  She did that easily and pressed the button to continue.    She got a “come back later” message.  She kept trying to move on from the come back later for over 2 h ours.  She put in a “bug” on the site ticket and then she received a complicated email back telling her she needed to take a screen shot and how to do it.  Cece decided she needed to be a techno geek to perform this set of skills.  She emailed them back saying that she was annoyed and that it was just a sentence telling her to “come back later.”  She told them she was a new user and she was angry because Facebook was not at all user friendly!  OH NO!  She was getting the Facebook gods angry!  But it must have  worked, because the site was released, and she could move on.

She began to build the site.  But immediately she had difficulty navigating the site.  There were no options that were visible so she could understand about the privacy settings, no home button…all the things she was used to seeing on other sites were absent.  The only way she could find these things was to scroll to the bottom of the page and go to “help” and ask a question.  She had to do this over and over.  She got redirected to lots of mini questions and had to attempt to find her solution…then had to navigate herself back to where she left off.  Each time she got onto the Facebook main site, she could not use the back button, as Facebook would not let her off their site….so she had to re-login in each time and try to find where she had left off.

Are you getting the picture of the frustration and building stress level on this her day off?    It as ugly.  Finally after  5 hours worth of frustration, Cece had the site built and was ready to copy the site code and put it into the Whos website.  She figured out how to copy the web address into the code window and off she went…except this was not a perfect science as many times it told her the web address was incorrect, when she had copied and posted it directly where it belonged. Each time she went to the Whos web site to copy the code and create a widget, she was bounced off her new web site and had to re-login and try to get back to the code pages again….she had to change the width of the widget and try try again.  Very frustrating.  By now she had a

Thanks so much Virginia! I am hoping some one will step up too. I have been researching and trying things to no avail. So far my brother has not spammed the site and that is a blessing...so ...so far so good....other wise we have a few likes and things seem to going well as it is...but I really want to change it to a group so I can have tighter control over the privacy settings.

I hope someone will step up to help you understand Pages and Groups and figure out what you need to do. Good luck with this.
