Facing Insurmountable Odds: The Papalo Cure - part 1

Maria walked rapidly around the corner and then broke into a sprint, grateful that she had worn her running shoes.  She was puffing hard when she reached the bus.

"Wow Missy, you just made it," said the bus driver, as she stumbled up the bus steps and handed him her ticket. "I was going to pull out in less than a minute."

Maria realized all those runs on the treadmill had paid off.  Without them, she might have run a minute slower.  But now she was on the bus, taking papalo to her grandpa, which he believed would make him well.

This story is totally fictitious and may not contain accurate factual information. I had never even heard of papalo, until I did an internet search for “indigenous plants of Mexico”!

The Words for Wednesday Challenge supplied the following word prompts:

insurmountable, sprint, timetable, vegetables, indigenous, relative.
