Fall is my favorite season. I love the mild chill in the air, and the way falling leaves smell. I love living in a place where I can tell the seasons apart. Mostly, though, it comes back to the slight change in the weather. When Indian summer weather spreads its humid breath over the back to school days, I get resentful, and swelter in my jean jacket, because I so much want it to be properly chilly fall weather. Football season starts and I want to need a jacket, it's that simple.
I love making soup, breads laced with cinnamon, and crocheting. I love watching football. I love reading cozy, familiar novels, and the way leaves change color and crunch underfoot, with that dusty papery smell.
And I can't remember which poet wrote "season of mists and mellow fruitfulness."
No, I have nothing of great consequence to say, only that I do love fall.
