A Family That Eats Together

My mission is to make mealtime at my house a happy and fun time for the whole family. That’s not as easy as it sounds. Some of you may know what I’m talkin’ about here. Mealtime can be a bear for me, my son and my husband.

I searched for easy recipes for dinner which would incorporate great food ideas into something my son would eat. There are tons of sites out there that have easy recipes, simple recipes, recipes for kids or food recipes the parents will like but nothing—that I could find, anyway—that was directed at a foodie who enjoys variety in her meals, loves great tasting foods, prefers meals that are easy, quick AND kid friendly.

It has been on my “to do” list to write down my many recipes and with few kid friendly recipes out there which appealed to me, I thought it might be helpful and fun to begin a website directed at parents who consider themselves food lovers and who want to make just one meal for the whole family—instead of becoming the proverbial short-order cook.

This site will give you a table-side view of what I am cooking each week, and how I translate recipes to be kid-friendly with only a few steps so that you, in fact, make just one meal. Here’s how:

  • Under “Weekly Meal Planners,” I will post my meal plan for the week.
  • The majority of my recipes are designed to be made in 30 minutes or less, so that they are quick and easy to execute on weeknights.
  • In my  Slow food and Meals Made Ahead of Time sections, I include recipes are great for the weekend when you have more time to cook and get the family involved in the cooking process.
  • I have also added a section for you to add your own recipes to share with our fellow visitors at the table.  If you have the time or the inclination, I invite you to the table and to join in a vibrant dialogue.

I hope this website inspires everyone to cook with your kids, share more and make family meal time fun again.

Feel free to provide feedback on my site. I look forward to hearing what you have to say and sharing with the group where possible. To read more about this site or me, please check out my “about” page.

Happy Cooking!
