Hi, all-
I've been working over the past few months with Jill and Neal Kimball,
who are developing a new community called Familying
(http://www.familying.com), which I suppose you could think of as sort
of a "Facebook for Families." The site is in its very early stages of
development.
The reason Familying came about is that Jill and Neal have been working
for 10 years(!) on a concept they've called "Family Table Time," which
is a structured (but, thankfully, not overstructured) way to improve
communication between family members in a household. As a side effect,
the Family Table Time conversations create really cool artifacts of
family history. I suppose you could think of it as a way to create an
uber-scrapbook or a family story that evolves every time the family
gets together. (I was skeptical when I first heard about it, and now I
think it's really neat.)
The Gig: The Familying folks are now looking for parents to potentially act as guides on Familying.com as it evolves. If you're interested, there are more details here: http://familying.com/blog/2009/05/13/wanted/
