Fashion Flap: Lady Gaga Defends Hillary Clinton!

[Isn’t it hilarious that Hillary Clinton wears pantsuits? As you’ve probably heard, on George Lopez’s show last week, the comedian and “Project Runway” host Tim Gunn had a good sexist chuckle over the Secretary of State’s feckless fashion sense. Never mind that Lopez and Gunn would probably not appreciate being the butt of similar jokes about Mexicans and gays. One of the most powerful and admired women in the world needs a stylist!

On Monday, another of the world’s most powerful women weighed in when Lady Gaga appeared on “The View” and called Gunn a "bully." The performer, who knows a thing or two about style, also remarked, “You know, I think Hillary Clinton has more things to worry about than her hemline."

In case you missed Lopez’s show, Melissa McEwan at Shakesville recaps all the fun.--Mona]

She writes:

After paying lip service to Clinton's actual accomplishments, Gunn demanded, "Why must she dress that way? I think she's confused about her gender!" He added, "No, I'm really serious, she wears pantsuits that are unflattering." Then it went on to "cankles."

Gunn finished, "I have great respect for her intellect and her tenacity and for what she does for our country in her governmental role. I just wish she could send a stronger message about American fashion."

I've always liked Tim Gunn, but these comments of his have me shaking my head. Some people do not care about sending "a stronger message about American fashion," and that's ok. I find fashion exciting, but it is not the most important thing in the world! I'm also surprised by his comments that she may be "confused about her gender". I've never heard or read of him saying that "feminine" male fashion designers might be confused. Maybe he IS a bit of a bully!

Some people just don't have anything to do but picked on people. The most trivial the better, they needed all the attention to boost their careers and thought demeaning others make them look good. Poor souls.

Oh dear. I really like Tim Gunn's sense of fashion. While I think Hillary Clinton is a very strong woman and politician, I also don't like her sense of fashion and think she does send the wrong message about American fashion (btw, she also pays way too much money on her outfits so budget has nothing to do with it), which has been the butt of jokes overseas for a long time, sorry to say. Sorry... That's just my opinion.

Two vapid, talentless idiots who have nothing better to do than criticize a brilliant woman in a position of power. So she wears pantsuits. What have you done lately that's of any value, George Lopez? Please.

Why is she criticized and men in her position are not??? She's just expected to "know better" because she's a woman?

I so agree...I can't stand that no one stepped to say something about their ugly conversation!
