A Few of my Favorite Things
By FaridaDawkins on April 14, 2014
I didn't start wearing makeup until my late twenties and now that I do, my collections has grown a bit. It's fun being able to use different products to produce subtle or drastic changes to your skin. I love the skin underneath it all, however I like the refreshed look I get from cosmetics. The cosmetics industry is big these days and since I enjoy wearing it, I also enjoy reading about and watching videos too. It would only be right if I shared my main staples. Below are some of the things I'm wearing now:
Before I put any makeup on, I start with a clean and moisturized face. The canvas has to be great so that any application on the skin will also look great. I prime my face with Benefits Porefessional Balm. It fills in pores so that your face looks flawless. This product can be found at Ulta or online. The next staple in my bag is the Aqua Beauty Balm by Kiss which can be found at beauty supply stores. What I like about this bb cream is that it's light, evens skin tone and brightens the skin. Its also retails at about eight dollars so it won't break the bank. I'm also feeling the LA girl pro concealers. These can be found online, at LA girl's website and beauty supply stores.
I'm enjoying Sleek's blushes at the moment. I've tried pomegranate and sahara and I am satisfied with both. Pomegranate is a berry based shade while Sahara will give off a sun-kissed glow due to it orangey-coppery tone. Sleek is a UK based company so these products will have to be purchased online. To top it off I finish by applying MAC's Mineralize SkinFinish in Deep Dark and I also use Soft and Gentle for a slight highlight.
Moving on to the eyes, I'm not big on eyeshadow as an everyday look but when I do use it, I find myself reach for Urban Decay's Naked 2 palette. It has a plethora of brown based colors that are matte and also shimmery for a great night time look. For mascara, I am really enjoying Loreal's Telescopic mascara. I can say that this is one mascara that thickens and elongates lashes. I finish off my eyes with Wet n Wild's coloricon eye pencil in deep blue. The color gives my eyes a subtle pop which I can pull off at work. On my lips, these days I find myself wearing MAC's Ruby Woo, Rebel or Milani's Brilliant Shine Lipgloss in Bare Secret - this is a pink based nude that works well for a range of skin tones.
Hope you enjoyed my list!
Salaam and Peace!
