Five Tips To Boost Your Energy During Holiday Chaos

Is this time of the year as exhausting for you as it is for me?  I think I was in and out of my car 100 times today, or at least it felt that way.  I guess it wouldn't be so bad if I had a chauffeur or a personal shopper...But I don't.  And it's not just the hustle and bustle...Even the fun stuff, like visiting family and going to holiday parties can take a toll on a mom's energy.

So what's a mom to do?  How can we boost our energy during this busy holiday season?  Here are a couple of tips that might help you keep your energy up...

Avoid Caffeine? Yikes!

I really forget to hydrate, and tend to drink too much coffee during the day. I definitely need that reminder!  I'm also trying to remember to take my vitamins, since vitamin D and iron help me feel less drowsy during these dark, winter days!

An idea from a hypnotherapist

We teach clients to do the following -- sit in a reasonably quiet place (the car, or bathroom works great!), close your eyes and take three very deep breathes -- pull the air in through your nose so your stomach expands and and then slowly release through your mouth. Then, repeat to yourself "I am calm, I am confident, I am in control" as many times as you need to before you feel your body calming down a bit. Before you open your eyes, get a picture in your mind of calm, confidence.

And remember to just BREATHE -- we don't do this enough. Deep, cleansing breathes while you navigate the mall, sit in traffic or watch your kids point to the tv for the hundredth time saying, "I want that"!

Cheers --
