Five ways to love yourself in January

Most people create a new year's resolution and don't follow through with it by the end of the month. This year why not make promises to honour and love yourself instead. Start the year off right and make a pact to love yourself first. 1) Speak to yourself positively. 2) Spend time alone without any interruptions from cell phones or computers. By spending time alone you are with your thoughts. This is the time when you can begin to correct any negativity from your own self. When you begin to think negatively, snap back and change your thought pattern immediately. 3) Take on a personal challenge. Harness the new year and get started with something you've wanted to do. Congratulate yourself for beginning the new challenge and seeing it through to the end. 4) Loving yourself includes pampering on the outside as well. Don't forget to relax, indulge in spa treatments or spend time doing physical activity. If you look good, you feel good and it's easier to appreciate your body if you invest time on it. 5) Drink water. I know this sounds really odd but by drinking plenty of water you are hydrating your skin and every cell in your body. Water gives you energy and helps you think clearly; you need to be thinking as clearly as possible when you are trying to make changes in your life. January can be a complicated time, we are constantly reminded that we need to start over and many people are resolving to change their behaviours. Take it easy on yourself by completing each one of these five steps above. At the beginning of each week make the conscious effort to do all five of these exercises sometime during the week. At the end of the month, recommit to the exercises for the next month. Loving yourself first is the only way that you can open your heart up fully and completely to the rest of the goodness that the universe has to offer.
