As we count down to BlogHer Food 10 on October 8 and 9, some of the food bloggers in the BlogHer network are sharing their favorite recipes.

Meet Connie Veneration of The Pinoy Cook:

food blogger Connie Veneracion of the Pinoy Cook

I am a lawyer by profession (retired now) and the only daughter of a lawyer and a lawyer. I am also the sister of a lawyer who is an only son. Read it again. You’ll get it sooner than later.

I’m the mommy of two teenagers, Samantha (Sam) and Alexandra (Alex) who are photocopies of me. I am the wife of a guy who was nicknamed Speedy by his mother for reasons I may never comprehend.

I now write full time. Online and for the print media.
I learned to cook by hanging out in the kitchen with my grandfather, grandmother and father. Growing up, I developed my own style and techniques with a lot of help from cookbooks and the television. Then, I started creating my own recipes. Cooking is an adventure, it’s been a wild ride so far and I know I’m still learning.

Connie's favorite recipe? Vietnamese-style honey-ginger chicken, a sweet-savory dish made with chicken thighs and aromatics. Get the recipe at her blog -- and tell me if you made it! I'm on a mission to cook each of these favorite recipes before the end of the year.

Omigosh, and MY Speedy is such a sleepyhead. Maybe, the nickname works in reverse?

Thanks, Jeanette.

Hope I can help correct the widespread misconception about Filipino food as exemplified by a recent article in SFGate.

Giggle. I think I shall nickname my son Speedy. He has a tendency to walk so slow it seems he is going in reverse.
