Food- Organic? GMO or NO GMO?

Well I have been doing lots of reading today on science and food and how they combine. There is a lot of information out there on the web. I normally go by medical sites for my information.
Over the past 2 years I have moved toward more organic and natural. I began purchasing hormone and antibiotic free meat and dairy. I did this because when my daughter was getting ear infections as a toddler they would give her an antibiotic. She would get a new infection, they would repeat the antibiotic dose. Then if she got another one after that in a short time span, they would give her a different antibiotic because she could build an immune to the previous one and then it would not work. So by that explanation, I moved to antibiotic free meat because if we are what we eat eats, then we are getting antibiotics in our system that we do not need. This was a personal choice. I didn't decide on this based on any websites I came across. Maybe I am wrong, but I feel better. I must note that my daughter and I have not been sick with colds or flus or anythying requiring antibiotics in almost 2 years.
Over the past 8 months I started paying attention to vegetables and fruits and organic and not organic and processed food vs not processed food. UGH! So much information! Ok so here is a breakdown of what I have learned and maybe it will help you decide what you want to eat and drink.
Sodas. Well I never liked them, even as a kid. The ones without artificial sweetners are bad for you because of the amount of calories and sugar and they can make you gain weight quickly if you are not careful. The diet sodas are bad for you for a whole list of other reasons regarding the sweetners that are used. This information caused me to stop letting my daughter have any soda at all when we were out and about. I used to let her get root beer or sprite but I just quit letting her have any of it because of the information I found.
Now, we have never really been the family to buy a lot of snack foods, packaged foods, frozen meals, etc. We pretty much stick to veggies and some carbs such as rice. (I am a Latina who loves her rice and black beans) I do buy occasional canned artichokes, beans, and canned diced tomatos for some of my recipes. I started switching to organic options when it comes to these things. I prefer organic because I am reducing the intake of pesticides, and even though I can't find information stating there are negative long term affects of pesticides, there is still an ick factor to them for me. When I buy cereal or any other snack food for my daughter to take to school I buy organic options. Such as organic oreo knock offs. I also buy most of her snack food from Trader Joe's. My reason is that they source their food from non-GMO ingredients. I found this article and another one similar that told me about increased toxicity to the plants that came from GMOs. It just didn't sit well with me. I don't like pests and in my personal veggie garden, I used eco friendly/organic bug killer because I live in the South and bugs just get out of control. But, the idea that a plant could kill a bug if they ate it freaked me out a little. So I started buying GMO free beans and canned veggies. Now to science of food. Remember we learned in high school that everything can be broken down to particles, atoms, etc. (I beg for forgiveness from those more knowledgeable than me in chemistry and biology, I can't remember everything) There are some bloggers out there who have large amounts of followers who claim if you can't pronounce it don't buy it or eat it. Well, let's just clarify a few things that have complex scientific names but are perfectly safe...

Tris-(9-octadecenoyl) trigyceryl mixed esters (Olive oil)
4-Hydroxy-3-methoxybenzaldehyde (Vanilla) (2E)-3-phenylprop-2-enal (Cinnamon)
I found these terms on this blog post. Not a medical blog but I just wanted to point out the chemical compounds.
Also, sodium bicarbonate is baking soda. Just want to throw that out there as well. People are discussing other additives such as caramel color. I looked at my jar of Organic Better than Boullion (Beef) and found that it has caramel color. I have no idea what level. But I decided until a medical journal and or FDA has announced this absolutely dangerous and should not be consumed in anyway then I feel happy with my organic boullion option that also does not contain MSG.
I hope some of this information is helpful. We all want to be healthy. We all want to eat a little more clean. We should make decisions based on what works best for us and not what mainstream media posts.
