Forgive and Remember
The stupid neither forgive nor forget;
the naïve forgive and forget;
the wise forgive but do not forget.
In many given situations, we are faced with the decision to go with one of these choices. Depending on the severity of the blow, physical or verbal, financial or publicly humiliating, we make a choice about how we will react.
How many times will we fall into the same hole before we step around it? Your culprit could be a mean relative, or a poor choice of date/partner that keeps appearing in different disguises. It could be someone who makes an assumption and then makes an announcement passing on an un-truth. These culprits are standing on a stage of their own making and want you to be the audience.
We all haven fallen for this, we are raised to be polite and to give the benefit of the doubt. We have given and forgiven and then one day, we say "oh, this person does not want me to feel good about myself". And in this moment we make an important decision that honours ourself, one that makes us wise.
No one has the right to deprive you of being your best self. No one has the right to squash you to their size.
We all have a story, let yours be about scaling the barrier and getting to the other side.
When you are faced with someone who wants to sabotage your convictions for a good life, how do you move forward? If I had listened to this someone, I would not be writing to you this moment.
