Macaroni and Cheese with Gruyere and Tomatoes from Andrea Meyers

There were two things drawing me to this recipe for Macaroni and Cheese with Gruyere and Tomatoes.  I loved the way it used fresh tomatoes in a hot dish, because my garden is still producing tomatoes, but the chill in the air makes me want something hot for dinner.  The other thing was the word Gruyere.  If you're not familiar with it, Gruyere is a hard cheese from Switzerland that has a fantastic nutty flavor and superior melting properties.  It can be pricey, but in this recipe Andrea mixes it with sh ...more
