Making Time For Me...

I have a friend. Let me take that back. I have a friend who is a super mom. Works full time, has a herd of  kids, has a happy marriage, travels, social butterfly, and always out and about. To me she looks like she has it all. She told me when she had her first kid that she refused to give up putting herself first and that her social life would continue on. I always held onto that conversation and told myself I'd do the same thing. Piece of cake. Wrong. ...more

The Art of Saying No

What does it take to say a simple "No, thank you"? A lot of courage, it would appear. For many people, saying no is a matter of losing out on an opportunity to gain precious approval - even if the person on the other side is a complete stranger. For others, it is a matter of cowering down, because they do not know if they deserve better - or if they can get any better even if they tried. So basically, if we were to break it down into one neat ingredient, this is what goes into the recepie: insecurity. ...more

BALANCING IT ALL OUT….I got to thinking about how important it is to balance the negative with the positive…..When we get around people who have significant problems and feel the need to listen or to help them….It then becomes important to balance that out with people who are doing well and achieving their dreams……No matter how good our intentions are or how much someone needs us when we get involved in their “energy” and listening to what is going on in their lives it reshifts who we are and what is going on in our lives….Their energy can quickly become our energy…....more

Dreams Do Come True

SHAKE IT UP…..MIX IT UP…..FRESHEN IT UP…. Sometimes in life we simply need to Shake up our lives in a good way……Mix things up a little…..Streamline things a little…..Change things around a bit…….Not just because life can get boring…..If we are doing things right rarely should life get boring if at all.  STOP……..Where are you Going?STOP……Sometimes we simply have to STOP……Take time out….Rest…Relax…..and look at what direction we are headed in in life…….So many people are going so fast in life that they don’t even have any clue where they are going…….Many people stay busy in order to avoid dealing with not knowing what they are doing….Staying overly busy is a way to avoid looking at things we should be looking at….....more

i awoke to thunder so rumbling, it rattled the glass of my bedroom window panes. the weather matches my mood; on the inside, a storm rolls along, a battle of sorts between what i feel and what i know to be true.  on the outside and to the world, all seems well.  children accomplished, husband faithful, my smiles come readily. inside, though, my little heart flutters and frets, and fear rules my day. ...more

How Losing My Job Was the Best Thing That Could Have Happened

I'd be lying if I said I was thrilled about driving the 40-mile commute to work at 4:30 in the morning for a mandatory store meeting.  Still, it was my job, one that had been good to me; where my manager was always considerate of my family needs, and worked my schedule around my girls', so I really didn't have so much to complain about. As we all stood around sleepy-eyed, clutching our coffee cups for dear life, the announcement was made reluctantly that our store was being shut down....more
