The president said "ass." Let's be glad he didn't use all-too-common talking points straight from the spin doctors who advise middle ground even in the midst of disaster. I don't need any more generic euphemisms for action like these from George W. Bush, Ronald Reagan, Jeb Hensaraling and Jim Cooper.
A few things really struck me at the first ever White House Forum on Workplace Flexibility. The first is that President Obama said “Workplace flexibility isn’t just a women’s issue.” Even if no public policy results from today’s session, the culture change that comes when people like Obama say things like that is big.
Jobless rates have stabilized somewhat in the United States, and the Obama administration contends the year-old American Reinvestment and Recovery Act stimulus package deserves part of the credit. But recent analyses are revealing that the recovery isn't reaching some of the communities hardest hit by the great recession.
