Crafting a Community: Why We Do What We Do.

It is now two weeks post-BlogHer 07. The contact high created by the sheer energy of 800 women sharing face-to-face the ideas that they had previously only shared in text and photos is fading. I'm slipping back into the quiet; savoring the thoughts and ideas of women, many of whom I may never meet.

The Art of Food Blogging: The List

Story goes, when my grandfather was asked how to be addressed, he'd answer, "Call me anything you want, just don't call me late for supper." So here's the promised list of attendees at Blogher's food blogger panel The Art of Food Blogging, late but please, not late for supper.

BlogHer Politics: Looking Ahead

First off, try this: Google “earn women’s votes.” BlogHer posts are the first three. What a great association for our community. As BlogHer's political director, I want to present Draft One of our BlogHer “Voter Manifesto” for your delectation and debate. What is the Manifesto? The BlogHer community has developed 12 questions they want each and every candidate running for president to answer. Below, I explain why our Manifesto is more than just a fun exercise. These questions are non-partisan. Every asker will need a different answer to be satisfied. The questions fall under four topics, which were voted most pressing by the BlogHer community. These topics are: Iraq Health Care Economic Future Environment and Global Warming

Blog Friends: Making Real Connections

An article appeared today in the Washington Post about an American University class assignment that forced the students to go on a 24-hour "media fast." This meant using no computers, video games, cell phones, mp3 players, or any other gadget for a day, for any purpose. Along with the loss of entertainment and immersion in information that accompany these tools, the students saw that it impacted their far-reaching social circles as well.

Get Inspired: It's Good For You

Whether you're single, married, or somewhere in-between, there are a lot of women out there who want to take care of their bodies. One woman who has succeeded in doing that is fitness expert Jillian Michaels. She spoke at an AOL Body-sponsored lunch event at last week's BlogHer '07, where she led a diet and fitness Q&A session. I put my name on the list the day before the event because I recognized her name; I thought it might be an interesting lunch diversion in-between the other sessions I would be attending.

BlogHer in Second Life-514

by Queen Tureaud at 3:51pm Thu, 2 Aug 2007 under '07 Conference news, blogher07, Second Life
I think it is safe to say you liked the Second Life version of BlogHer '07. 514 is my new favorite number. I'll explain why shortly. When I brought the idea to Elisa, Lisa, and Jory a few months ago, we agreed the virtual BlogHer was an experiment. The idea was to offer bloghers unable to travel to Illinois a way to attend and be a part of the conference. We were not sure how many of you would "attend" and in all honesty, we were not sure how it would all turn out. I'm not normally a numbers person (or avatar) but in this case, I'm making an exception for some amazing stats:

Storyboarding - Resources and Vlogging Assistance

Thank you to all the good people that stopped by the Multimedia Lab and those that wanted to attended. Thanks also to Kraft Foods for sponsoring the lab. I'm suffering from a bad case of hindsight. There was so much we all wanted to share but were under time constrictions. Also folks at the session asked about additional resources. I t love digging up help and support resources for potential vloggers and anybody with access to a camera or camcorder.

The State of the Momosphere. A recap of sorts

How could I not cover the panel on the state of the Momosphere? Of course I will recap. The panelists were an amazing group of women that I deeply respect. Chris Jordan, Catherine Conners and Lena Lotsey with moderator Jory Des Jardins. (We deeply missed Mommy & Family's own editor Nordette, but she was in our thoughts.) It was a standing room only crowd. (Go, Momosphere!)

Taking Your Blog To The Next Level

Thanks to everyone who came out to the 'Taking Your Blog To The Next Level' advanced lab segment! I really felt like we had a great session and were able to address some common CSS questions and design issues. I hope everyone who attended felt the same. If you missed it, you can check out some of the things we covered on a mini-site I threw together for our session located at blogher.squarespace.com.

Project Runway's Chloe Dao at BlogHer 07

At BlogHer 07, Project Runway's second season winner, Chloe Dao, says she wants to vlog and see women realize their own personal style.

Where are your BlogHer 07 photos?

The number of BlogHer07 photos on Flickr tagged with "blogher07" is close to 4000. However, Flickr isn't the only photo sharing site out there and we don't want to miss any BlogHer antics posted anywhere. My Flickr name is VeeSees. If I can brag, I think I got the best shot of Lisa Stone's mom. A brilliant and beautiful woman who shared breakfast with me one of the days at BlogHer.
