I Am A Christian, Married, Mother of 3; I am pretty dangerous!

Today, the day before Election Day I awoke feeling empowered.  My feelings of empowerment are not motivated by trusting that my voice will actually be heard this voting season. See, I am a Christian, married; mother of 3 who teaches at a private Christian school. I am all too often cast into the unrealistic dark shadows of society.  I mean I am pretty dangerous…I believe in One Man One Women, Abortion is Murder, Pro Death Penalty, Small Government, Anti Union, The Right To Bear Arms…heck I am even Pro Pledge Of Allegiance…I could go on and on....more

Same-Sex Marriage: Why Everybody's Right ... and Wrong

Lines have been drawn, the symbolic moral high road taken, and the demands for social acceptance...um... demanded in the latest showdown between Christians and homosexuals in the War on Marriage/ Battle for Marriage Equality. (It all depends on which side of the fence you're on. But everyone seems to agree that they are engaged in combat of some sort.)...more

OOPS I Did it again!

So I promised myself I would treat myself better and not drink as much and pray more so I can be a better Christian. I drank... A LOT. Was really sick the entire next day. Whats worse is that I was so sick I couldn't go were I really wanted to go. To top it all off I was told I made out with a guy. ... WHY !!!!  Why do I do this to myself? Shouldn't I know that God loves me enough not to do this. I feel like a terrible horrible person who can never keep her  word.  GOD I want to serve you better yet I always let temptation get the best of me....more

Wounded Healers

Reading the book of John in my prayer time this morning and meditating on just this one piece of scripture: "...Gather up the fragments left over, so that nothing may be lost."  ~ John 6:13This portion of scripture has ministered to me all my life. And this morning, as I come across this picture, I am led to read and meditate on this rich truth. And once again, the beauty of our Savior strikes me afresh and anew as only a Living Word can do....more

Grounded in His Strength

Evidence of things not seen

I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with Organic Chemistry.  When I was first exposed to it, it baffled me.  The professor was retiring that semester and had a low tolerance for questions, the book assumed an understanding of nomenclature that was completely foreign to me and I spent a great deal of time interpreting what was said and not fully understanding anything.  I scraped by with a ‘D’ which was nowhere near good enough for a science major....more

For the Sake of Marriage

Although my husband and I have been married for almost 12 years, I don't speak much about marriage.  It's mainly because I feel like we are still learning ourselves. Unlike most people these days, we took the plunge at 19! Needless to say, we were completely green at that age about what to expect or do....more

Hearing God Knock....are you listening?

Do you get nervous the morning of an early morning flight? I certainly do! The night before I am constantly worrying about leaving something behind, having my boarding passes ready and ensuring that I set my alarm clock so that I wake up on time. With all of the items crossed off the list, my husband and I went to bed with the alarm set for 5:30 a.m. because we were heading to Orlando International airport at 6 a.m. sharp....more

Praying for Government & President Barak Obama Elected to a Second Term

Barak Obama has just won his second term as President of the United States of America. The people have spoken. Although I did not vote for Obama, I will continue to pray for him, his family and his Presidency. Part of these prayers have been and will be for his protection and for him to allow God to be his guide. ...more
