My husband came to me and asked, "Have you seen Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt?""No. Why? Is it any good?""Oh, man! YOU have to see it. It's uncanny!" He continued, "It's about this girl who escapes a cult and decides to take on New York City with her positive, can-do attitude..."
Then he raised his eyebrows and did this slooow nod, like, You know what I'm saying. Ha. Ha.
A child's autism diagnosis can really mess with parents' heads. Media portrayals of children with autism and their adult spectrum-mates dwell almost exclusively on negatives and challenges, so when a parent is told that their child is autistic, they are usually incredibly upset.
A strange, Jewish women's cult has popped up in rural Israel.
Israel has very remote separation of religion and state. As a citizen of Israel, I find women's issues very troubling, in regards to the religious community. Jewdism has a long history of covering up their women, but the majority of Israel has long forgotten religion's strict, by the book, implementation.
I’m worried about my little brother-in-law. He’s attending something called “Honor Academy” in Texas. This is his first time living away from home (just turned 18). I don’t think it’s a healthy environment for him. The place isn’t actually a college or a school. Technically it's supposed to be about internships. He's going there because (I guess) they have a film program.
